Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Glenn Matthew Searles

Again I say to all, my deepest condolences to the ENTIRE family of Deputy Searles, especially to his mother Geri. We thank you for your services to the County of Onondaga, State of New York and to our great country the United States of America. I also thank you for stopping to assist a person in need on I.481, a road that can be extremely dangerous; I have traveled I. 481 thousands of times. May Glenn's soul forever rest in Heaven.

RIP, may his soul rest in Heaven. I also honor all the individual who made it possible to enact the Move Over Act in order to help save the lives of Emergency Responders, especially police officers who are consistently in danger while working on the Inter-State and highways.

Glenn, your dad sent me a picture of you in uniform and EOW date on it. I will now dance in your memory at all the pow wows we attend over the summers, until I can dance no more. The pain and hurt is still there after all these years, as we never had that lunch we planned the last time I saw you. You have taught me that life is too short to carry grudges and that words are best spoken kindly, as you never know if you will be able to apologize for them later. No parent should go through what your and others have done, but as we are not promised tomorrow, I will try harder to make today worth living. Miss you cousin,

I said a little prayer today for Deputy Sheriff Searles and his family. He may be gone but never forgotten. He will always be a New York HERO.

Hi Glenn,
Happy 42nd Birthday!!
I will be doing 2-10 hours shifts in your memory today. I plan to take your favorite cookies to the Apopka, FL, PD before the ride-a-longs begin. I hope to 'catch some bad guys' for you.

We have the Watch.

I miss you.

I can't believe it's been 10 years. Glenn was the most wonderful, kind, friendly person I've ever met. I knew him from working at the MEO and think of him often.

Glenn, I think of you often, with a smile, then with sadness. Your passing is proof that life isn't fair, that a wonderful, genuine soul can be taken from us at too young an age.

I grieve for your family and friends left behind, for the life you should have been able to live.

Thank you for touching my life with your presence.
You are remembered and missed.

It is amazing to see how many keep you not only in their thoughts but also in their hearts. You will forever be in both of mine, because you were the one that helped to mold my heart into what it is today. And a piece of it will always be yours. You don't have an End of Watch....I know you are still watching over us....

Glenn-

I just completed the 300 mile Police Unity Tour Ride. It was one of the greatest things I ever been involved in and what made it even greater was to ride in your honor. You are not, nor will you ever be forgotten.

Time does not heal the pain in your families hearts, but it does make it easier to get up every day. Glenn, you are a true hero who we will never forget.... I know that you are walking side-by-side with your mom as she is such a strong woman, continue to watch over her.

I've known your mother for more than 40 years and knew you as an infant. She is so proud of you and what a wonderful son you were. She told me all about you when I saw her after several years. I wish I had the pleasure of knowing you as the fine young man you were. Rest in Peace.

You are still loved and remembered after all this time. Thank you for showing us all how to have a bigger heart. They say time changes everything, and it heals. Our hearts may have healed since losing you, but time has not taken away or changed the love we all have for you. Happy Birthday Glenn.

Glenn, I have recently reconnected with your Mom and she led me to this site. You were a young boy when Patty and I (along with my mom "Grandma D") were in close friends with your mom and dad. I know that your sudden passing left a giant hole in the lives of many. In faith, I also know that you are now in God's loving embrace and that together you have watched over your Mom, dad, fiance and friends. Thank you for yor service to your community.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the sixth anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

I pray for solace for all those who love and miss you. Both the pain and the pride are forever. To your mother, I share your anquish in losing a beloved child which surely has to be life's greatest sorrow. Both the pain and pride are forever.

Rest In Peace

I just found out this news today so many years later.

Glenn was my best friend for most of my adolescent life. He was the best friend you could ask for. I wish I knew the man he became. All my love Glenn. You have always been remembered, now you will be that and missed.

A reminder and a birthday wish,Glenn, that your mother surely picked up on your "being a good guy" attitude. She makes you proud and honors you by the way she helps so many other surviving family members. Birthdays, holidays, and that terrible "EOW" all make up who you (and "we") are. Your touch and presence are now a memory but so glorious in that you helped others .... what a legacy!

Even before being an officer you always knew how to carry others through hard times with love and compassion. I still do this day have only found one man to be your equal. You were some of the best times of my younger years and will always hold a place in my heart for showing me the way.
Love you always Glenn.....
