Dean, you are the only officer I have in my heroes section on ODMP. I never knew you, but came to know about you from your sister Kelly when we were in Japan together. I know your family misses you, but I know that heaven awaits the time I can meet Jesus, and maybe get to meet you also.

Officer Dean Beattie, I never knew you but I have had the pleasure and honor to know your mom and dad. You are always in their hearts and are missed very much. You dad has shared with me many stories about you. He was very proud of you. Know that you were well loved. Thank you for your service and dedication. Rest in peace, brother!

Motor Officer Dean Beattie, I have done countless home service calls in my life, but no one ever spent my first 20 minutes there talking about their children (and they were not even there). I could instantly tell you were the best Father to your Six Daughters. I loved your stories about the BMW in your garage and wish I had taken you up on your offer for us to go riding BMW’s together. One day I hope we can.

I want to say I was in an accident on 163 south in the same area of freeway opposite side. We got lucky me and my cousin after that roll over crash. No one else was on the freeway thank God and the hospital right there. It happened June 2006. I always see the memorial and it reminds me that I am thankful for being here.

Hey Dean. So today I'm going through some old work stuff and I pull out my old CHP bucket that I was wearing the night I got run over by that drunk just 3 years before your accident. It made me reflect on so many memories, and it led me to your page. I've been reading so many of the reflections left by family, co-workers and friends. I'm a total mess, but it's calming knowing you're in heaven and watching over all of us down here. You were loved by many and missed by all who knew you. Dean, you made going to work fun. Your Brothers/Sisters in Blue will never forget you and the great sacrifice you made. See you on the 19th this year. M

Dean, first of all please forgive me for my late reflection. I truly did not find this page until today after reading about our latest brother officer's e.o.w. He was the motor Sgt. out of the Riverside office and killed yesterday on a traffic stop by a suspected D.U.I. driver. I know you have met him already and are showing him the ropes up there. You were always great at helping out at work when you and I worked in the El Cajon office. I want you to know even fifteen plus years since you left us I still remember your unending smile and infectious laugh. You were good for so many great laughs in swing shift and graveyard briefings before you got your motor. I have never once missed saying hi and God bless you when I drive north on 163 and see your sign on the right shoulder. Rest in peace brother and do great thing up there, you are missed by so many of us ,down here!

After reading your daughter Amanda’s entry from 2014 brought tears to my eyes. Her saying she loves and misses her Daddy was so poignant that it says it all. I too have a beautiful daughter and I’m also a Marine. God bless you and God bless your family. You will forever be in our hearts and minds. Semper Fi Brother Marine and Motorman. Amanda, please know your father also loved and misses you greatly.

I miss you so much daddy, I wish you were still here with us. You would be so proud of us girls, I know you and Brett are enjoying your time together up there. I can't believe it has been 10 almost 11 years since you've passed, time has flown by but I still remember your laugh, hugs, and voice till this day! I will always remember waling up with you to have coffee and read the paper before you left for work and watching you ride away on your motorcycle. I never knew that one day I watched you ride away would be the last. Words can't describe how much I want you physically back into my life, to walk me down the isle when I get married and to see your future grandchildren. Your memory is forever in my heart and I love you so much, your little girl ❤️ Manda

I learned of the loss of Dean recently from a former classmate while attending our high school reunion. Dean and I were friends in high school and we had several classes together. I know Dean is watching down on his family and he is deeply missed by all.
