Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Richard Meyer

This is the 1st time I seen this site and I think it is just wonderful. My heart goes out to his family. May the memories be retained in the hearts and cherished forever.

To the family and friends of Deputy Richard Meyer, his fellow officers, and most especially to Deputy Meyer:

On this the second anniversary of your tragic death, please know that you are not forgotten. Your valor and dedication are still remembered and your memory honored. Rest in Peace, Deputy Meyer.

May your family continue to be comforted by their law enforcement family, and other police survivors.
I saw from your reflections that you had a daughter Isabella born after your death. My son, Larry Lasater, had his first child, Cody, born 2 1/2 months after he was murdered. I am so glad that you had some time with Max, and I know that you are watching over your children and your loving wife.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the service Deputy Meyer gave to his community, and the citizens of Wisconsin, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on November 13, 2003.

Remembering you and your sacrifice
today. So tragic that you missed so
many of the blessings that God had
in store for you. May He comfort your
family and especially the little girl
you never got to hold. My heart goes
out to your families and your friends.
You did a great job for the short time
you were with us and we thank you
for choosing such a difficult profession.

Two years have passed; it is no easier to say all of the things in my heart then it was that day. Thanks for everything you gave to us while you were here. I know you are still with us, watching over us and backing us up when we need you most. I miss you.

Rick-

As the dawn sets on another year, my memories of you remain as strong as the day you left us. Please continue to guide and protect as we journey forward into another new year. Max and Isabella send hugs and kisses.

I can't believe a year has passed since you left us. Not a day goes by that I don't think about you and your family. Thank you for your service. Rest in peace.

Rick,

I want to say "Congrats" to you and Tanya for your new little arrival. You were a great father and friend. I will always remember coming over to your parents house at Christmas time and playing around the house.

Rick,
Congratulations to you & Tanya on the birth of your daughter. I know you're as proud of her as you were when Max was born. I remember how your face lit up every time you talked about Max or showed us a new picture of him. It was also pretty obvious how much you loved Tanya. I hope that Max and Isabella know what an incredible person their father was. You touched so many lives in the short time you were with us. You'll always be in our hearts. We all miss you.

So many people are doing so many things to make sure you and your family are not fogotten.
My family and I had a christmas ornament made for you. Every day of every year my wife and little boy will remember you, your wife and your family and friends. You touched a lot of lives and we thank you for that. We will not forget.

As I return to 3rd shift I can't but help to think of you and how it just won't be the same. I see your picture every time I walk in the door at work and say a small prayer for you and the family you left behind. Please help me do the best I can at my job to keep the others safe. I believe you are their guardian angel. Rest in peace and know that you are missed more than words can say.

To the wife and children of Deputy Meyer,
I am so sorry for your loss. I visit this website frequently since my husband responded to the call in Adams County when deputy Shannon was killed. I cannot express how sorry I am that this had to happen and that you are left with the emptiness that you are. I want you to know that you are prayed for daily. Know that you have the greatest gaurdian angel watching over you-- your husband and your daddy! Take Care and Rest in Peace Deputy Meyer!

My Rick-
Our beautiful Isabella has finally arrived. She is just as perfect as Max was. She already seems to have your calm and patient personality and is being a good little girl for us. Not a moment in our day goes by that we do not think about you and wish you were here. I know that you are watching over us and will always be our special angel. Love Tanya

We miss you Dick...Not a swat call goes by, Not a training day, and most of all, not a third shift resume, which would have been made better by you being with us. You became a part of us the first day we met you. And you will be with us for the rest of our lives. You know who we are. And we miss you.

UNCLE RICK'S POEM

Everyone loved Rick so
much that we had to let
go of him. He left
us, but it was ok. He just
left us for awhile. It
was nice to see and feel
him, but he just had to
leave.

Rick -

I find myself coming to your memorial page almost daily. Not a day goes by that I don't think about you. I didn't know you well, but I still knew you. I will always remember your smile, the way you lit up a room just by walking in.

Rest in Peace, Blue Angel.

I went to the academy with Rick. I've said this over and over since Rick passed. Of the academy class, I would have trusted 5 or maybe 6 of the 19 other cadets to watch my back. Rick was one of the guys who I know would have had my back.

God bless your family, brother...

most people would tell you that law enforcement is a dangerous job. i never listened. I was always afriad when there was a domestic call or when i heard dispatch say use caution with someone. My husband was a little man but his size never mattered to him. He wanted to be a policeman, he wanted to make the small town we lived in a safe place for everyone. i never thought that directing traffic would be the worst thing that he could do. I just want to say to all the officers that read this "To be careful out there and watch out for other drivers and be careful so you can go home to your family" GOD BLESS
