Well, Greg.. Another year has almost passed since we lost you. I can still remember it like it was yesterday. Where I was and what I was doing when I heard the news. I seem to miss you more & more each day. Every time I see an SO car, I think of you and of the fun times we had every time you would come by the fire department and hang out with us and play practical jokes (oops, maybe I wasn't suppose to tell that part). There for a while, it was like you and I were following each other, because whatever side of the county one of us was one, the other one seemed to be in the exact same place.
You are never truly gone because you are in heaven watching over all of us. We love you and miss you dearly!!

HI Baby,

Four years ago today was the second worst day of my life. That's when I saw just how badly you were hurt. I Know that you and your Dad are in a much better place now than we are. It's so sad without you two. I miss your jokes and sneaky little grin and your Dad's grumpyness and how he worried about me.

Just remember how much I LOVE you both.

I LOVE YOU BOTH DO VERY MUCH.......

THE MAN BEHIND THE STAR

It takes a special kind of man
to wear a star and gun
To devote his life entirely to fight
the battles that must be won.

So often he's not appreciated
for the job he has sworn to do.
But he'd gladly lay down his life
because he wears that star for you.

Some seem to think
that he really has it made
That all he does is ride around
for the salary he's paid.

But every time trouble appears
he's the first one that they call.
it's only then they realize
he's special after all.

There's a man behind that star
who has feelings just like you.
So seldom does he get praise
for all the things he'll do.

If you ever stop and think
of what he faces day and night
You'd respect what he stands for
and learn to treat him right.

There a man behind that star
and he's not made of steel
and the things we watch on T.V.
to him are very real.

He has a family of his own
he can laugh and he can cry
Each day he puts on that star
could be his day to die

He chose to uphold the law
a decision made from his heart
To protect us with his life and give
each child a better start.

Try always to remember
there's a man behind the star
and he'll be the first to help you
no matter who you are

You should say a prayer each night,
to thank God that he's there.
When you see him on the streets,
you should show him that you care.

Without the sacrifice he makes,
we'd always live in fear,
He should be commended
to wear the star he holds so dear.

He's never turned his back on you,
faced danger close and far.
All Americans should salute
the man behind the star.

Lt. Medlin,
I remember the night your accident happen like it was only yesterday. I had just started at the sheriff's dept only 4 months before your accident. You helped make me the dispatcher that I am today. You would call and make me cry when I made a mistake about a call. But I would not be the dispatcher who I am today. I thank God for you everyday. I didn't get to know you like the rest of the people did at the dept. but what I did get to know of you are a kind and sincere man you had a great personality that is something we all missed after your accident. You were not there to make us laugh, wake us up when we were about to fall asleep at night and someone to talk to on the phone on weekends. You were the jokester around there we could always look forward to a good joke when you came by. But we talk of you all the time about the things you said and did. Everyone of your guys you supervised looked up to you and you were a wonderful officer who did his job very well. You are very much missed Lt. Medlin. My prayers go out to your family.

Hi Baby,

I miss you and your Dad so very much. I can not believe your Dad has been gone a whole year. It seems like yesterday. I'm still having a real hard time without the both of you.
I know I peomised you I would take care of the girls and I am trying my best, but it seems like every thing I do and say just falls on deaf ears. I so wish you and Pepaw were here to help. I know if you were here the things that are happening would never take place.
Everything is changing so fast. Will is now a senior and is doing so well. He misses you and Pepaw too, as does Trace and Denise.
I LOVE you and your Dad so very very much. It feel like I am so sad all of the time. The girls and Jimmy do all they can to help me but it never seems to get any easier.
Just remember how much I love you and tell Dad I Love him so much and miss you both more than I thought humanlly possible.
LOVE YOU BOTH------------

I miss that BIG-O-GRIN even if you just got a little note or a glass of tea waiting for you. You and Peepaw celabrate this year and tell him he can not be grumpy with the angels!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! ..you're getting close to being over the hill! hehe! Thanks for watching over me when I flipped my car, defiantly the scariest thing I've ever been through. Like mom said, the necklace was still hanging, I have no idea how it did, but thanks. "Little Bitty Allie" and I were talking today about all the jokes you made. We would get so annoyed with you joking around with us but I know we would both give anything to have that again. I really never thought I would say that I miss you screaming in my ear in the morning to wake me up..and mom still randomly calls me "Karen" to make me smile but its just not the same, I miss you! Well, I'm sure you are having a HUGE birthday party..so go have fun..tell peepaw I said hey! happy birthday, love you!

Happy Birthday Baby!!!

I have been thinking about the jokes and pranks you are probably pulling on the angels. I hope you all celebrate in a big way. Every year I think about the Creamed Tocos we always had instead of a birthday cake for your birthday.
Maybe you and Dad can celebrate together this year. Tell him I love him.

It seems I love you more each passing day. There's not a day goes by that I don't cry for you and your Dad. I try to stay busy so I don't have the time to think.

Happy, Happy Birthday. I love you so so much..........

Hey Honey ~ It's been a bad week. Garyn rolled her car over trying to miss a deer. She only has one serious injury and is out of the hospital. I can't help but believe that she had alot of loved ones from above looking over her and praise GOD!! Her necklace that your mom had made in your honor was hanging on her rear view mirror. The next day (after the tow) I called and asked the wrecker service if they would look for it. They called back and said it was still hanging from the mirror!!!! We believe it's a good luck charm, because considering the way her car landed, we are very blessed. Keep watching out for all of us. I Love You, Shannon.

Hi Baby!!

Happy Easter to You and Your Dad. I LOVE you both so very much. My life is in shambles since you both left. It doesn't seem like it will ever go away. There is not an hour or sometimes a minute that I don't think of you. I had your Dad to comfort me when you left and now I don't. None of this seems real. I still keep hoping that I will wake up and it has all been a horrible nightmare.

Just remember I love you both more than life and I will see you again someday.

Ilove you!!!!!!!!!!

hey Baby...I can't belive you have been gone soooo long. I was trying to figure out how long ago I had bought my new fridge to find the number for a filter change. I called and started arguing with the lady because she said it was out of warranty. I told her no way, that i had only had it a little over a year or so. Well, she was right. I found my papers and it had been delivered one week before your accident. I just couldn't believe it!!! It is so strange because sometimes it seems NOT REAL at all, sometimes like yesterday, then you realize...gosh!! It has been so long! I was changing sheets the other day and put on the egypt.cotton ones that you stained with "bacca". I remember fussing that the stain probably wouldn't come out. I'm glad it didn't. I miss you so much. I love you lots, Shannon.

Well Greg, you'd be proud, I finally made it to patrol. I remember you'd ask me all the time when I was going to get out on the streets. I finally got there! I know you'd be laughing at the rookie mistakes I make... I sure miss you. Keep an eye on us out there..
