Watchman Van Duzen, you are one of the pioneers of law enforcement in this nation and a shining example of what it means to put the life of another ahead of your own. You are truly a hero and on this 176th anniversary of your sacrifice, know that we who continue the good fight, salute you and honor your memory.

God Bless and may your rest continue to be peaceful for all eternity. God Bless you, Brother.

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 173rd anniversary year of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace
