Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Kevin Michael Sherwood

I didn't know Kevin, but he and his family was loved by my brother John and sister-in-law, Karen Wilson. Hearing the news that morning, was one of the most terrifying moments in my life, as I thought how easy it could have been anyone of our angel's in Blue. Kevin, is a hero to all. He stopped the man that would have very likely killed another or more citizens, children included in his crazed drive. Kevin did this by giving his own life to save others. I will never forget this act of self sacrifice for other human beings. A lesson many of us need to remember. Thank you Kevin, for showing me that there are still hero's among us. To his family, co-workers, friends my prayers for comfort, peace, and hope I send. May we all remember the unselfish, God like, act that Kevin Sherwood performed, renewing our faith in humankind.

God Bless,

Being Patrol Service Commander for the County of Clare for the past several years makes its hard to say in words which properly reflect the feelings of Kevins's family. Reviewing the kind thoughts and prayers from everyone makes it difficult to try and not repeat what already has been said.

Kevin was a dedicated hard working officers. He loved being in Secondary road. I never became close to Kevin like some of the Deputies here but it was hard not to overhear the good times they have spent together.

Being in charge of the Patrol Division made it difficult for me to share in the fun and laughter the Deputies shared with each other.

Kevin always took the time to stop in my office to make sure everything was OK and always asked if there was anything he could do for me.

Kevin battle against Drunk Drivers probably have safed countless lives and this community will always be grateful.

You will be missed

In the 9 years of working with Kevin it was clear from the beginning he was professional through and through..however..
5 minutes.....Kevin always had an extra 5 minutes when he'd ask, "How are you?", and would sit down or stop in the hall to hear the answer.

Know that when you read this message and all the messages before and after me, tonight or many years from now, that Kevin touched all of our lives, hopefully making us all a better person and forever be etched in our heart, mind and soul.

My heart is heavy for Katie and her family.

While we were sleeping my friend Kevin Sherwood went out looking for trouble. That's what cops do. Citizens don't call the police when they have a great day. Sometimes I wish they would.

While we were sleeping my friend Kevin put on his uniform and left his young wife and family to watch over and protect our families. Along with his other equipment, he carried his smile and his wit and his positive attitude and did what he loved to do. He never came back.

While we were sleeping this young man tried to do his best and tried to protect us and tried to help us and tried to make a difference. He did.

And now he's dead. And now if we want to see Kevin Sherwood we can find him in the eyes of his children and in our prayers and in the smiles of other warriors who are out there every night doing the same thing. I am honored to have known Kevin and proud of the difference he made, each night, while we were sleeping.
