Reflections for Investigator Bret Duane Tepe

You were a dear friend, and fellow officer. I enjoyed the memories of the Navy we shared with each other. I will miss you... You are with God now, and He will stand watch over your wife and kids. No tears are shed as I remeber your laugh, your smile, and your wonderful spirit. It is with renowned hope to one day see you again.

Ford County Communications will deffinitely miss Bret. He would call dispatch disguising his voice and we would have to guess who it was and what he wanted to report. He was trying to keep us on our toes and it was great. He made us laugh, when not much that we come in contact with can make us laugh. His sense of humor has touched us all over the years and it was something we looked forward to interacting with. Bret always looked out for the other fellow and proudly served his community. Our thoughts and prayers will always be with his family and friends. We have truly been blessed to have been able to work with Bret.

I thank my God upon every remembrance of you. Inv. Bret Tepe was the kind of person that if you met him one time he would leave such an impression that you could not forget him. He was the finest person I knew. I am honored to have known him and to have him as a friend. His wife and girls meant the world to him and more. His office was decorated with pictures of his girls and his beautiful wife and art work that the girls made for their daddy.

When I think of Bret I either laugh or smile because he was very comical and always had us laughing. He is greatly missed and will be greatly missed. He was a man that I admired and had much respect for. He was one of Ford County Sheriff's Office finest. It won't be the same with out him.

I will miss you Inv. Bret Tepe. I will always think of you and remember you. You left behind some wonderful memories. Your family will forever be in my thoughts and prayers.

Investigator Tepe, I'm sadened to know that we have lost another officer in the line of duty. But, you did what you do because you chose it. You walked the thin blue line between warrior and servant and your community is grateful for your sacrifice. May God provide your family with swift closure in their loss, and to yourself, fast winds to your next assignment in heaven, as you walk those streets under his command. A huge reward is awaiting you. In the meantime, please watch over us and the remaining peace officers that will continue the watch in your absence. Goodnight sir.

The policeman stood and faced his God,which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, policeman. How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To my church have you been true?
The policeman squared his shoulders and said.
"No, I guess I ain't because those of us who carry a badge can't always be a Saint."
I've had to work most Sundays
and at times my talk is rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
because the streets are awfully tough.
But I never took a penny that wasn't mine to keep...
though I worked a lot of overtime when the bills got to steep.
And I never passed a cry for help
though at times I shook with fear,
and sometimes, God forgive me, I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place among the people here.
They never wanted me around except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here, Lord, it needn't be so grand,
I never expected or had too much, but if you don't...I'll understand"
There was a silence all around the throne where the Saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly for the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, policeman.
You've borne you burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets.
You've done your time in Hell"

What a committed officer....willing to drive his own vehicle while on duty. I know many officers and must admit that I can't imagine many of them being willing to do that.
May God wrap his loving arms around your family. I know how much they will need it.
