Tye I think about you often an dwear a bracelet in honor of you everyday. I know we decided to do this job together along time ago, me in Lincoln, you in Omaha and we never thought it would turn out like this. You were one great officer but a better person. I will never forget all the times we had together and you will never be far from my heart and mind. I really miss you.

Did I ever tell you you're my hero?
You were everything I wish I could be. I can fly higher than an eagle, you are the wind beneath my wings. Thank God for you, the wind beneath my wings.

At the beginning of every shift I supervise, myself and the other officers on shift dedicate the day to the memory of a fallen officer.

Today, September 19, 2005 we dedicated the shift to the memory of Sergeant Jason (Tye) Pratt who died in the line of duty on this date two years ago.

When one law enforcement officer falls, we all stumble for a while, but we will carry on.

Sgt. Pratt's sacrifice will never be forgotten.

Happy Easter Jason. I wonder what you're doing right now...actually I wonder what you're doing all the time. Do they have easter egg hunts in heaven? In the year and a half since you left, I have only dreamed of you once. That's odd to me because I think of you 100 times a day - I just figured I'd see you more in my dreams. I guess you have a lot of people to visit though. I go to sleep every night praying that I see you. I know God called you home, he thought it was your time but I miss you so much and I'm sure I speak for many when I tell you that I feel so cheated. Everything got so messed up, you were supposed to be here! You live in my heart now, you won't ever leave. You keep me strong, you are the light at the end of my tunnel.

I remember meeting Officer Pratt while working as a Loss Prevention Detective in Omaha, Nebraska. I remember speaking with him and thinking that he was a true professional. May the lord bless his family. I can not imagine your pain.

I never had the privelage to meet you. However, I had the chance to hear your wife speak at a conference that I attended recently. Her courageous journey is an inspiration for all of us who dawn the uniform. I am honored to have met your wife. Because of you, your depatment, your wife and family...our streets WILL be a safer place. Each day I go to work it will be in honor of you and the mission your family stands for. Be in Peace.
