Tye over 6 years ago I thought time would ease our pain. I was wrong. I think about you more often now than then. Bro I can still see you flex'n in the weight room admiring yourself in the mirror.

Six years ago today is as vivid in my memory as yesterday is. I'll never forget, I woke up to my cell phone buzzing. It was a text that said, "I'm so sorry". I needed no explanation, I immediately knew. The tears came & they kept coming as if the source was neverending. I have no idea if you ever knew what you did for me, I can only hope.

Rest in peace my friend, you know I will never forget you.

Jason,

Today is the 6 year anniversary of the day you were gunned down. I was one of the dispatchers on duty in Omaha that night. I will never forget the silence in the dispatch room as your fellow officers put out the call. What a tragic night! That was the night I decided I wanted to be a Police Officer.

You have not and will not be forgotten!! R.I.P. Sgt. Pratt!

To the family and friends of Sergeant Tye Pratt and his fellow officers in the Omaha Police Department:

On behalf of our entire family, we wish to pay honor to Tye's memory on the fifth anniversary of the week Tye so tragically lost his life. His heroism, valor and bravery will be forever remembered.

May you be continue to be comforted by the support and caring of your law enforcement family, and other police survivors. We grieve for you and with you. Our family lost our beloved Larry Lasater when he was fatally shot in April of 2005 during a foot pursuit of two bank robbers, so we know the anquish you are still experiencing.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the years of service Sgt. Pratt gave to his community and the citizens of Nebraska, and the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on September 19, 2003.

Mr. and Mrs. Pratt- words cannot describe your loss. No parent should ever have to bury their child. We just received our Tye bracelets in honor and in memory of NYS Trooper Andrew J. Sperr. They are beautiful! Sergeant Pratt you would be so proud of your parents for continuing to honor you with such dignity and pride. God Bless.

I remember when Ofc. Pratt was taken away from us. Although I did not know him and work at the opposite end of the state, I felt a great sense of loss for his family, OPD and Nebraska law enforcement. You are missed and I think of you often.

"The Badge"

He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.

He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.

Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.

He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.

His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.

He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.

And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.

But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.

Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.

Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.

So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.

In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.

Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

My thoughts are with all of your loved ones today on this 4th anniversary of your EOW. Your name is known all over the world because of your foundation and I commend your family for that and the bracelets they make to honor fallen officers. Continue to keep watch over all of your loved ones. You are a true hero and heroes never die.

Sergeant Pratt, your loss has reminded all officers in this area how dangerous our job actually is. As the four year anniversary of the date you entered heaven nears, I pray for your family. As a young father, my hope everyday is to come home and see my family, and watch my children grow. I know this was your dream too. Always know that your children will know that you were a hero, and that you paid the ultimate sacrifice doing what you loved, and standing up for what you believed in. I never knew you personally, but as a brother in law enforcment I hurt from your loss. Take care, amd rest peacfully knowing that you will never be forgotten.

Tye it is hard to believe that it has been so long ago since I last talked to you (1996) and since you were so unfairly taken. I still think of you often and especially at this time of year. I, like everyone else miss your sense of humour and loyalty as a friend. Thank you for watching over all of us and take care of yourself old friend.

Not one day goes by that I don't see your plaque up on the wall or go by your locker and see the memorial. Some days I stop and look inside and remember the pain and grief from that night. I hope that you are doing well and I miss you, we all do.

Tye-
You are still in our memories...You were taken too soon. You still had a life to spend with your family, but God had other plans. Father's day has just passed, and I know that you were missed as you are everyday. Take care, my friend. The boys in blue across the river will never forget you. I still wear my memorial t-shirt to remind the public that a true hero was taken form us, but he is still alive in our hearts. God Bless the Pratt family.
