It's been 2 days since your tragic passing Ofc. Woods. If you could only see the tremendous amount of support that has been shown to you and your family. I know you're up in heaven looking down at us and smiling. I'm sure you were watching over us on Friday on Union Ave at your memorial fundraiser. Tens of thousands of Memphians stopped and offered their support and condolences on your passing.
I hope you're looking down on 9-4-03,
for this is the day you'll receive your Signal C.
Rest easy my "blue angel", rest easy. You will never be forgotten. We will watch over your family!

I mourn the loss of Ofc. Woods because it shows the danger involved with Domestic Violence calls. In the State of Georgia, the laws have been changed for the better. Now in Ga., the victim does not have to file a warrant against the offender. The Officer can arrest the offender on site if he obseves any kind of marks or bruises caused by physical abuse on the victim. We can arrest even if their is only verbal abuse or threats. Even if the victim does not want to press charges, Officers in Ga. can make the arrest. No more should we allow a Officer to get killed by an offender who is a habitual violater of domestic violence. I challenge all Officers in their prospective states to make sure their domestic laws are changed so that a d.v. offender gets arrested the first time he/she lays his/her hands on their spouse, girlfriend, boyfriend or whatever.

May the God and all of His Mercy follow the Family and Fellow Officers of Officer Anthony Woods.

Peace My Brother

Somebody killed a policeman today
and a part of America Died
A piece of our country he swore to protect
Will be buried with him at his side
The suspect who shot him will stand up in court
With counsel demanding his rights
While a young widowed mother must work for her kids
And spend alone many lone nights
The beat that he walked was a battlefield too,
Just as if he'd gone off to war
Though the flag of our nation won't fly at half mast
To his name they will add a gold star
Yes, somebody killed a policeman today,
It happened in your town or mine
While we slept in comfort behind our locked doors,
A cop put his life on the line
Now his ghost walks a beat on a dark city street
and he stands at each new rookies side.
He answered the call and gave us his all,
And a part of America died.

Rest In Peace Fellow Officer

I'm laying in the darkness, I cannot fall asleep.
I wonder where my husband is, I wish he'd call or beep.
I saw him leave this morning, the black boots on his feet.
He said he had to run now, and I know he's on the street.
You'll know him when You see him, his car is very loud.
He has no time to stop now, he doesn't want a crowd.
A caller said "Please hurry!" Come quickly if you will.
A young man with a motorbike is laying very still.
A mother calls in anguish, her child limp and blue.
HURRY! Come, I need you! I don't know what to do.
I hear his key turning, he's coming in the door.
I hear him drop his boots, then footsteps on the floor.
I hear him in the kitchen, I can tell from his walk,
He'll soon come and wake me, and ask if we can talk.
We'll sit out in the moonlight, and listen to the night.
He talks about a shooting, a streetgang in a fight.
A car crash, a drowning, a small child hurt at play.
The things he needs to talk about, the things he did today.
The old, the sick, the injured, some so very small.
He did all he could to help them, he answered every call.
Every day he has a mission, he knows it in his heart.
He does everything he can and always does his part.
If you are sick or injured and you need to reach my Hon,
I can tell you how to reach him, his number is ......911.
