On behalf of the deputies of the Carteret County Sheriff's Office we send our sincere condolences to the friends, fellow officers, and the family of Officer Anthony L. Woods. As a fellow Tennessean this loss has hit home with great impact. A tragedy like this is always hard to come to grips with.

I visit this site daily to pay my respects and realize law enforcement is a rewarding job and sometimes too often, a dangerous one. I pray for comfort and healing to all of those affected by Officer Woods untimely passing. Today, is a day for law enforcement officers across this nation to rededicate their lives to a service they perform, To Serve and Protect.

Officer Woods you performed a service above all others, you paid the ultimate sacrifice of a law enforcement officer in the line of duty. To give ones life to save another is the highest honor to the Lord. God bless you Officer Woods, and may God be with your family in this time of need.
