Mel,
"Police Week" has just ended and once again we have just returned from the Memorial which has your name and the names of our other Heroes inscribed on it. As always it was very sad but it just strengthens our reasons to watch over our Brothers and Sisters in Blue out here on the streets. With your help and guidance I know that we will all be safe and go home at the end of our shifts. Rest easy Brother and God bless the Lisojo Family.

Mel,
It's coming up on 2 years since you were taken from us but it still feels like it was just yesterday. We all still remember you everyday. A bunch of us are going to Washington D.C. in a couple of weeks for the Memorial Service and you and your Family will be in our prayers. God Bless You Brother.

It has been almost 16 months since you were taken away from us but I remember our meal break and responding to that call like it was yesterday. Six left and five came back. I guess God chose the best for himself. That might not be any consolation to your Family but as I have seen on my many visits to your resting place it is obvious that you are greatly missed and loved. Your death was completely senseless. I wish I could have done more. You will NEVER be forgotten Mel. Rest In Peace my Brother.

My Brother Mel,

God only knows how much I miss you and how I wish we made more time. I'am trying very hard to keep going but many times I stumble and fall. However, I know you will be proud and happy to know that "The Lisojo Family" and I have gotten closer then ever. We have a bond that could never be broken..I know this is what you would have wanted so i'm staying close to the brothers in blue, and our sis, so keep watching over us as I continue to pray for you. Give me the signs i'm looking for. I love you brother.

Your big brother

I never dreamed it would be me,
My name for all eternity,
Recorded here at this hallowed place
Alas, my name, no more my face.

"In the line of duty, " I hear them say:
My family now the price to pay.
My folded flag stained with their tears;
We only had those few short years.
The badge no longer on my chest,
I sleep now in eternal rest.
My sword I pass to those behind,
And pray they keep this thought in mind.

I never dreamed it would be me,
And with heavy heart and bended knee,
I ask for all here from the past:
Dear God, let my name be the last.

Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children OF GOD

One never knows when it will be the last time you will see each other. Had I known that it would have been the last time we would share a conversation that rainy day on Spruce street, I would have told you how much I appreciate all the help you've given me when I was struggling through the academy. I miss your advice, I miss you as a neighbor and I mourn your absence. Rest eternerly my brother.

To Melvin, I will never forget the first time, I met with you at the West District, when you a new officer...You was a very creative, smart and ambious Police Officer that any cop would be proud to be your partner. It's so sad that a good Newark Police Officer life was cut short cause of careless driver drunk driver. WE MISS U MEL, U WILL ALWAYS BE WITH US!!!!

Mel, even though it's been a while now, I still find it hard to believe that you are no longer with us. I still expect you to walk into the "Village" and sit down with us while we eat lunch. The last time we spoke, we talked about our vacations and you told me how you were looking foward to seeing your children. Who would have known that this would be the last time that I would see you. When I learned of the accident, I did'nt want to believe it. But I know that we have to find the strength and courage to go on. You have made the ultimate sacrifice. You were called up for a reason, a purpose. Now you protect us from above from all of those who wish to cause us harm. You will never be forgotten.
