Reflections for Conservation Officer James Lansford "Lance" Horner, Jr.

Hi,there, my old buddy and friend:
Well, these seasons come and go-seeminly faster and faster.
It goes without saying that I always think about you whenever I wonder what you would do in a sitution. Lots of things change but my respect for you will never change and I just wanted to tell you again how much your friendship meant to me---I only wish it could have lasted forever. It was such a privilege to meet you ans spend almost four years with you. I do know this, we will meet again. I see your family from time to time! You were so fortunate to have such a loving family and everyone seemed to show such love and respect for each other.
One day..............................we will reunite!

Merry Christmas, Lance:

As we are preparing for Christmas once again we think of you all the time. It is such a comfort to know that you "celebrate" every day. I Can Only Imagine how beautiful it must be there!
Never a day goes by that we don't think about you and we look forward to that day that we will be together again!

I love you!

We are getting redy for hunting season! Know you will be with us in our hearts. We will always think of you not only in this season but allways.
The other day I made a comment to someone and they said "that's cheap." I thought about you and how you used to say it.
See you again!

Lance:

As we have been watching the September 11 news of 8 years ago and as I watched those men rescuing people and even finding those who didn't make it I told my wife that I could see you in all those brave men. It still amazes me how calm you could be when under pressure and could keep a cool head. My only regret is that I didn't have longer to spend with you. May God continue to bless your wonderful family. One of these days we will see you again!

Love ya, my friend.

Lance:

Still shaping lives, still influencing lives and still that small "witness" and that quiet demeanor you had about you that made all who came in contact with you sensed your strong inner strength. I am so thankful I stayed in law enforcement and didn't bail out like I wanted to. You are still my hero!
I wish I knew all the people you have touched and witnessed to by saying nothing at times!

Your dear friend and who would give anything to have just one more hour with you! Think of you each day.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 6th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace.

In reading the loving reflections, I see that you are missed and loved by many and that you had a profound impact on the lives of others. I hold your family and friends in my heart's embrace today. To Lance's Mom, i share your anquish in losing a beloved child and know there is no greater sorrow.

Lance:

I cannot believe that it has been nearly six years since since you "crossed over." Yet, somedays, it seems it has been forever.
We went over to see Jacob Lance graduate from kindergarten last month. He is such a fine little boy and he is so much like you. We love him so much!
We think of you each and every day and we love you so much!
It was a privilege to be your mother for 32 years!

I love you so much! Until then........

Just wanted you to know how much I love you!!! I can't tell you the number of times each day that I think of you. You continue to be such an inspiration to all of us. You would not believe how Sydney has grown--- She got her driving permit last week!!! Which I'm sure you are aware and got a big kick out of it. We continue to share stories with Kendall about you. She just laughes and talks like she knows you!!She would have you in stitches all the time. You two would have probably gotten into lots of trouble!!! Continue to enjoy your surroundings---Until we see you again. Love you so much!!!

Once again we are getting ready for hunting season and we were talking the other day how we missed you and still think about you each and everyday. So many things we learned from you we are still putting to good use. It is amazing how we try to do the things like you would.
We will "hunt" together again!

Lance:

As we have watched the news of the convention and the storms we have "seen' you in all of it--------wondering if you would be pleased at the way things are going and just "hearing" your comments. I just recently heard about this website. I attended a Lakeside celebration a few weeks back and I thought about all our classmates and could not help but think about how you used to make us laugh and yet, the wisdom you had, even when we were in school, was really awesome (that was our favorite word! awesome.) I know your family misses you but I know you were such an inspiration to everyone you came in contact with. We all miss you and you were such a wonderful example to me and all our classmates.

One day! We will see you again!

Lance:

Daddy, Sydney and I had the honor of attending the "Honoring Our Heroes" in Birmingham on June 20 which was at the conclusion of the opening of the Alabama Sports Festival. It was a wonderful ceremony and the medal of valor is wonderful. She presented the medal to Daddy and it was a most fitting tribute to you. Once again we were reminded just what an impact you made on so many people on your job as well as in your daily life. You are still so very special to us and all your family!!!!!

Until tthen!

I love you!

Hi Lance:
The other day I had my year book out and looking at all the pictures and something that you wrote to me. You said to follow my dream even though it might seem impossible------------I took your advice-------even though I thought I would never reach my goal----------but I did. Everyone always looked up to you and you always made us laugh. We miss you and when I meet up with a classmate we always end up talking about you.
I did not know this website existed until another friend told me about it.
I always enjoyed spending time with you!
I will always remember you!

Lance: Another hunting season just about to end. I think of you each time I go and still think about all the great timees we had together. I will always remember your quiet (yet funny at times) ways! I will see you again.

January 30, 2008

Lance:
We always miss you especially this time of year. It is nice that we still think about you and stop think what you would do in a situation-you are still a shinning light.
Until we meet again!
I will be seeing your folks soon.

Lance:
I think of you everyday and we still miss you so much. I think I am a better husband and father today because of your Godly influence, at least I try to be.
Still think of what you wouldl do in certain situations andd I still am so thankful for the time I was able to work with you. Your little boy is just like you!!!
Until we met again.
Your friend!

You taught me so much and you were such a good exaple to all of us!

All who loved you are "Honoring and Remembering You" during "National Fallen Law Enforcement Officers Week". Lance, you are not forgotten and your dedication to your job continues to be an inspiration to many. When the job gets hard and I forget what I am working for I remember you and your sacrifice. I hope you are looking down on us all proudly with your "big scanner" in heaven! You would be so proud of Sydney and Joshua, they have grown to be respectful young adults and they are still smart as ever! You are loved and missed, your scanner buddy, UJC
