Reflections for Police Officer Rodney Fredderick Pocceschi

My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family and to the rest of my former department.
Rest in Peace,
You are gone but not forgotten.

Another life taken too early. My thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Officer Pocceschi everyday.

Deputy Faith Hill

Rest in peace brother.

Police Officer
Denver Police Department

My Heart and Prayers go out to the VBPD, family and friends of Officer Pocceschi. He paid his dues, and will now be on a better beat. I found this poem I would like to leave. The author is unknown.

"Final Call"

An Angel In The Sky Must Leave His Place Of Rest,
Gently Tucking His Wings Beneath His Armored Vest.
For Duty Has Called, There Is Much Work To Do
Little Did He Know, This One Is Dressed In Blue.

Arriving On The Scene, He Knows Just What To Say,
"Follow Me, Fallen Brother, I'll Show You The Way."
"Your Duty Has Ended, Your Work Is Now Through."
"Come Hang Your Hat Beside Mine, I'm A Cop, Too."

Rest in Peace my Brother! God Bless you for your noble and thankless work.

Deputy Sheriff

The thoughts and prayers of my family go out to Officer Pocceschis family and colleagues. As a fellow public servant in Va. Beach, I feel this loss and I am also grateful for the service that he provided. To Rodney....Your wife and son have been left in good hands, you need not worry for their safety. Your brothers in blue will ensure that they are taken care of. Rest in piece my friend.

Captain Jack Crandell
Virginia Beach Fire Dept.

Thought I did not know this great man, I feel as if I have worked with him every day. When an officer puts on his uniform to go to work, he is going in with thousands of his brothers in blue. Officer Pocceschi's death is a great loss to all of us. Having lost a brother and sister of our own recently, I know the great loss and grief his fellow officers feel. May all of God's blessings be upon his wife and young son. God bless you my Brother in Blue.

To my dearest friend, Gina. My heart aches for the loss of your brother Rodney. There hasn't been a day that has gone by that I haven't thought about you and your family and the terrible sadness you all are going through. Rodney gave his life to protect the citizens of VA Beach and I applaud him for that. He IS with God now, protecting all of us. God Bless him and his family.

God be with you and your biological family and your law enforcement family. Thank you for the ultimate sacrifice. You embody the hero in all of your brothers and sisters in law enforcement. As a civilian, I can only thank you from the depths of my heart.

Safely Home

I am home in heaven, dear ones;
Oh so happy and so bright!
There is perfect joy and beauty
In this everlasting light.

All the pain and grief is over,
Every restless tossing passed;
I am now at peace forever,
Safely home in heaven at last.

Did you wonder how I so calmly
Trod the valley of the shade?
Oh, but Jesus' love illumined
Every dark and fearful glade.

And he came himself to meet me
In that way so hard to tread;
And with Jesus' arm to lean on,
Could I have one doubt or dread?

Then you must not grieve so sorely,
For I love you dearly still;
Try to look beyond earth's shadows,
Pray to trust our Father's will.

There is work still waiting for you,
So you must not idly stand;
Do it now, while life remains,
You shall rest in Jesus' land.

When that work is all completed,
He will gently call you home;
Oh, the rapture of that meeting,
Oh, the joy to see you come!

I want to send my sympathies, and say THANK YOU Officer Pocceschi. I am currently off the Coast Of IRAQ with the USS FIREBOLT and my fellow ship mates have asked me to send my appologies to the family, friends, and CO-Workers of Officer Pocceschi. I am a Volunteer EMT with the city of Virginia Beach and I always look up to the Police Officers out there risking their lives to protect the Citizens. People dont understand why a Police Officer does what he/She does. Well I understand and RESPECT them all.

To the Wife and Son of Officer Pocceschi please if you feel you need anything what so ever, Please stop by one of the FIRE Stations in the City and ask. If you just want to stop by and talk feel free. What I am trying to say is that We are all here to help in anyway possible if the need arises. The whole City is here to help. One of our Volunteers is an Officer at the 4th precinct and I want to extend my condolences to him as well, I am sorry to hear that you lost a Fellow Officer and friend. May GOD BLESS all the Police Officers and watch over the POCCESCHI Family.

There is no greater love than a person lays down their life for another. I know Rod is with God and watching over all of us. My thoughts and prayers are with the Pocceshi family and all those who volunteer to keep this country great. God Bless You!

After hearing all the tribute to you and learning about what kind of person you are, I felt sad that I didn't get the opportunity to meet you and to know you. As a brother in blue, I have lost a little bit of my heart and soul.

I was comforted however, to hear at the memorial service in your honor, that you were a Christian man. Knowing that eased the sorrow. And I smiled and felt joy and relief for you and your family.

Rest now. I rejoice for you, for you are with our Creator, where there is no pain and no sorrow. We, your brothers and sisters in blue, will continue the fight. Out of something bad, always comes good. It is promised. God Bless.
