My dearest little brother, there are some things that i must say
In case I didn't tell you, as you left my world today.

I thank you for the love you gave
for the times that we have shared
for all the times you've comforted me
and when you showed me that you cared.

The times when you protected me
The times when you would call
for picking me up when i was down
and never letting me fall.

You'd grown into a special man
a loyal and true friend
and touched the lives of many
until the very end.

Our world was very fortunate
to have you standing by
to protect no matter what it took
to lay your life on the line....and die.

Forever I shall be so proud
of what you've done today
protect and serve and give your all
in the most couragious way.

My memories i shall cherish
I wish there were even more
of you my dearest brother,
THE ONE THAT I ADORE!

Love forever and always, your "little, big" sister

I would just like to say "Thank You" to you Officer Pocceschi for protecting and serving us during your time on the dept. My friend and I had the fortunate opportunity to meet you during our internship experience during the summer of 2000 through the TCC program. You always said hello to us as we waited in the briefing room to make us feel welcome. I speak for my friend and myself when I can honestly say I have never met a nicer police officer. I am deeply saddened by the events that took your life, and pray for your wife Maria, your son Carson, and your family. Let God be your server and protector now as you continue to protect and serve us from heaven. R.I.P.

Sincerely,

Though we have a different job title, we share a bond and brotherhood that comes together from serving and protecting. We look out for each other no matter the title, just the duty. On behalf of my brothers in the Hampton Fire Department and the IAFF Local 2450, god bless the family and the numerous "brothers" grieving. See you on the street.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Officers Pocceschi's family, and our brothers and sisters in law enforcement with the VBPD.

It was a yr and half ago when the police arrived at our door to say something had gone wrong. I held our 6 weeks old son in my arms as we walked into the hospital. Shock and disbelief, this coudn't be happening. My fiancee was shot in the head and shoulder at a routine traffic stop and died on the scene. He lay there on life support as we arrived to say good bye. This is something you never forget and something I am sure I will never get over.
When I heard the news about your husband I wept as if he where my own. I am so sorry to you for haveing to go threw this and I wish I could meet you just to hug you. My heart is broken too.
I truly pray for you and your child. I know God has reason although we can't see, You husband is a hero something he was always meant to be.

My fiance, Dennis McElderry, was the first law enforcement casualty of 2003. It saddens me to know that Dennis was not the first to die in the line of duty, nor will he and Rodney be the be the last to die this way.

Having gone through the pain of losing Dennis I can truly understand and feel the pain that Officer Pocceschi's family, friends, and co-workers must be feeling. My heart goes out to you all. I wish I could give you a few words of wisdom to help you through this tough time, but there isn't anything I can really say or do to make the situation better. Just know that my thoughts are with you.

Please accept my condolences on behalf of the McElderry family and remember that Rodney is part of huge law enforcement family. If you ever need anything any number of them will be there for you (as I've quickly found out!) From reading the many reflections posted here, I am certain Rodney was well respected and well loved. Thank you for a job well done and for helping to make this world a safer place for us all. Please take care of my fiance Dennis.

Peace, Love, Luck, and Happiness!

Rod,
We are overwhelmed with sadness for Maria and Carson and all of those who loved you. You were so well liked by those who knew you. We hope your entrance into heaven was peaceful. I hope the reunion with your Dad was wonderful. I know you will watch over all of those who loved you from heaven as you did while on earth. Your son will know how much you loved him and will be taken care of by all those who love you and Maria. May God Bless You and Keep you always.

Such a senseless act by a thug. Rest in peace, you will not be forgotten. Although we have never met, we are all family.....such a sad time in not only the local law enforcement community but throughout all law enforcement agencies.

May God Bless your family at this trying time and in the future. Everyone pretty much knows that you were a hero in life and will be an angel in Afterlife and as an Angel, your friends and family should take comfort in your continuance to watch over them as you did on the force. My your continuance of watching over them be a comfort to your family, especially with your son so young.

Mick, a Civilian

Having lost a dear friend in the line of duty this past April (Deputy Toney Summey), I understand the pain and anguish that members of the Virginia Beach Police Department and surrounding agencies are going through. It saddens and angers me to hear of another officer falling to the hand of a gun possessed by a criminal. If there is to be any justice in this incident at all, then let it be that the criminal paid for his actions at the hand of a man who died a HERO. No other officer will ever have to face that dirtball again, thanks to Rodney F. Pocceschi. We all owe you a debt of gratitude for your sacrifice brother. From me, to you -- thank you from the deepest sincerity of my heart. May God bless the Pocceschi family and friends, and give them the unwavering strength to endure this time of tragedy. Rest in peace brother, we will all meet you later in celebration.

Rod, I will always remember your wit and dedication while you were working over on a case at the 4th. Your positive attitude rubbed off on everyone around you. You will be deeply missed and always remembered. God bless you and your family.
