Reflections for Police Officer Rodney Fredderick Pocceschi
We missed Murphy's Sunday. However, we still honored your death by spending the day together as a family. Thank you for the sobering reminder that sometimes we just need to sit back and appreciate our time here on earth. Requiem in pacem, brother.

I was in the Marine Corps and asleep in my bed with my newlywed wife about one mile away from you when you were killed. Thank you for protecting the streets while I slept. Your service, in part, inspired me to become a cop. We were strangers but your senseless murder affected me. God Bless you and your Family.

I haven't been on your page for a while Rod. A lot of time has passed and most of my talking to you comes from inside. I hope other people that read these reflections see what a fantastic person you were. Every day I think about how things would be if you were here. I miss you. Please take care of us.

Hey Brother,
Thank you for your sacrifice !!!! Its very clear that you are dearly missed by family and friends.
I came across your name today as I was checking the ODMP website. I saw the banner for fallensofficersremembered.com
I did not know you or how bravely you lived until today.
Thank you seems like such a shallow thing to say.
GOD BLESS YOU MY FRIEND

Hey big, little brother;
visited your site this weekend; it's being kept up nicely and I am so grateful for the person/s who take the time after all these years.
Still moving forward with the mission to bring our officers home safely to their families and will not quit; the goal is to vest approx. 250,000 officers, and by then, the warranty will be up for others. God will provide! I have faith.
Missing you so much this weekend. It was still difficult to go to the site and even drive by it a couple times while in VA; I still have flashbacks and think what ifs and if onlys.....
Forever every day your sacrifice and the 19,000+ of other LEU's lives in my heart and soul and inspires me....
Love and miss your little, big sister....xo

At around 3:30 AM on June 23, 2003, my grandfather, Jim Cervera, received a phone call from the radio room. They said that you were in the hospital, and that my grandfather was wanted. He just became Deputy Chief only a month or so before. He woke me up, said he would be back in time for my birthday party. A few weeks later, I went with my mom, Shawn, and my grandparents, Jim and Cindy, to your funeral. We all cried for a long time. My mom and I visit your grave every so often and place flowers for you. You will always be remembered. We will always love and forever miss you.

Rod,
I pass by your memorial on my way to work everyday. You were on one of my best friends squad. The reality that a senseless murder like this could happen to such a great person and protector of our community sickens me! I pray for all my friends on the VBPD nightly-- I had the honor to run in your memory in the Police Week 5K this year...I did it for you and all the Officer's who have given the ultimate sacrifice...the facebook page that shares the foundation in your honor is awesome and "I tip my hat" to Gina & Jaquelyn for the outstanding job they do to keep your memory alive! THANK YOU for your service!!! You WILL not be forgotten!

Rod,
I parked today on Dam Neck Rd by the memorial erected since the day of your passing..... running radar. Just like you did that early morning stopping a speeder and end up dealing with a true bad guy.
You are remembered each year by your friends, family, and colleagues.
I will be retiring in September after 30 years service proud to have worn the uniform... just as you did!!
