Your brother Emory is doing a great job of keeping your
memory alive! I love this Chris Rice song titled Untitled Hymn.

Weak and wounded sinner
Lost and left to die
O, raise your head, for love is passing by
Come to Jesus
Come to Jesus
Come to Jesus and live!

Now your burden's lifted
And carried far away
And precious blood has washed away the stain, so
Sing to Jesus
Sing to Jesus
Sing to Jesus and live!

And like a newborn baby
Don't be afraid to crawl
And remember when you walk
Sometimes we fall...so
Fall on Jesus
Fall on Jesus
Fall on Jesus and live!

Sometimes the way is lonely
And steep and filled with pain
So if your sky is dark and pours the rain, then
Cry to Jesus
Cry to Jesus
Cry to Jesus and live!

O, and when the love spills over
And music fills the night
And when you can't contain your joy inside, then
Dance for Jesus
Dance for Jesus
Dance for Jesus and live!

And with your final heartbeat
Kiss the world goodbye
Then go in peace, and laugh on Glory's side, and
Fly to Jesus
Fly to Jesus
Fly to Jesus and live!

Your memory is alive and well. Healing will only come
when those whose faith is in Christ will meet you on the
other side. Until then, we rejoice that you are with the
Savior and the cares of this earth are far from you!

It will soon be 4 years since you were called away from duty. I know those that love you have thought of you every single day during the past 4 years and will continue to to so as will the many silent tears continue to flow from their broken hearts. These are tears of love and they will never let you be forgotten and that is how it should be as you are a true hero and heroes never die. Continue to keep watch over your loved ones and those still out on patrol. You will never be forgotten.

Matt always encouraged me to follow my dreams of becoming a police officer, he was a great mentor while I was a law enforcement explorer with the sheriffs office. My dreams did come true and Matt was there to be a mentor again while I worked for the Republic Police Department. I will always remember his advice and now will try to follow his example while I am with the Ferry County Sheriffs Office. I hope to make you proud Matt, you are greatly missed

Undersheriff Lane,

I recently had the pleasure of speaking with your brother Emory. Emory shared a lot of great things about you and it's very apparent that he loves and misses you greatly. Your death has forever changed his life as I'm sure it's changed the lives of all those who knew and loved you were. Maybe you could work your magic up there along with some of the other fallen officers and find a way to send Emory, your loved ones, and all the other fallen officer survivors some peace and strength to move forward in life. With the holidays coming up we are going to need all the strength we can get. Thank you for helping to make this world a little safer for us all. I pray that you will continue to do that from above. You will never be forgotten. If you bump into my fiance Dennis up there tell him .... tell him how much I miss him and how much he is still loved.

Wishing those who knew and loved you brighter and better days,

Jocelyne

PS: Emory, thanks for reaching out to me the other night. It's nice to talk to someone who "understands." I look forward to talking to you again some time. Take care and stay out of trouble! :)

But i do my best to take care of him. take him outside take him on walks. talk to you again soon. We miss you.
