Reflections for Police Officer Humphrey Symons

Officer Symons: Thanks for your sacrifice. And thank you for serving the citizens of Gold Hill. Your service is greatly appreciated. Gold Hill is near historic Virginia City. At the time Gold Hill and Virginia City were rich boom towns, with some of the richest silver mines in America. Most of the miners were immigrants from all over the world. Gold Hill is now a very small town, with no police department. Currently Gold Hill and Virginia City are policed by the Storey County Sheriff's Office.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the one hundred and thirty-first anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

Rest In Peace.
