Reflections for Officer Melvin Earl Collins

To Officer Collins' wife and children....

I lost my husband (a Va State Trooper- Mike Blanton) on Jan. 29th of this year. My heart aches for you. I pray that God will send His angels to surround you, hold you, and sustain you during these trying days.

I would love to tell you it gets easier...but it doesn't. Allow God to wrap you up in His arms and carry you for a while. My thoughts and prayers are with you.....and....I do understand.

Blessings to you and your family

I pray that God will be with you all (family and friends). I pray for HIm to give you all comfort. Officer Collins will be remembered. He is our HERO.

To the family and friends of OFC COLLINS even though he was a police officer for a short period of time, many officers go an entire career without feeling like they have made a difference, OFC COLLINS did this in the first few days of even being a police officer, I know this doesnt ease the pain that everyone must feel about the loss but know that he is watching all our backs from "up on high!" Rest easy brother well continue on from here.

Lord, please surround this family with your loving arms, to give them strength and courage on the path that they now have to walk. The pain and grief is to great to bear. Be with his wife and children and family, give them peace and comfort at this time. We cry out, why? Why, did this happen to him? There are no words to tell others how we feel at this time. We are empty, we are hurting, but we go on, sometimes with a smile on our faces, trying to hide the hurt and pain. We remember the last time we talked with him, saw his smile, told him that we loved him, gave him a hug. We can't get it in our minds that this has happened to him, that we won't have him with us any more. All we can think of now, is what took him from us. And we can't believe that in all this world that it happen to him.
Be with each family that has had such a great loss, especially this family. He didn 't even have a chance to do what he wanted to do most, to be a Police Officer, protecting his community.
Lord, surround this family. Be with them in the coming days, months. Help them receive strength and courage from You and keep them in Your care.
We ask this is Jesus name.
Amen.

That thin blue line is a little thinner today. God Bless this man, his family, and his fellow officers on this tragic day.
