Reflections for Patrolman Michael Thomas Hartzell

No matter how long I'm away from the job, or how far away the fallen brother, a part of me dies too. Michael, I salute you from Syracuse, NY.

Deputy Todd Irving (Retired)
Hamilton Co SO, Ohio

There are no words to describe the feelings that come with such a tragic event, it will impact the lives of so many people in a ripple effect. Officer Hartzell, thanks for the effort, you will be remembered as an officer who did his job, asking nothing in return. My prayers to all who loved you, and all who will miss the special times in life they will be denied by this senseless act of violence. Godspeed, and tell Billy hi for me.

Patrolman Hartzell, I mourn your loss; the loss of your life, the loss to the community, and certainly the loss to your family. I hope that if you did not have the opportunity to know St. Michael in this cruel world, that you will get to know him in Heaven.

I am likewise saddened that your death was the result of yet another fatal traffic stop. I pray that someone will one day recognize and permit us to use a safer method of dealing with what can sometimes be such catastrophic event.

God bless your eternal soul.

I am deeply saddend by this tragic loss of a YPD hero. Fifteen years ago I was in training at FLETC with some YPD officers who had to leave the training early because a brother officer was killed in the line of duty. I am so saddened to hear of the loss of another.

You men and women who wear the badge are the real heros. Over the years I have lost several close friends who gave their lives protecting society; they, along with every other law enforcement officer are my heros. May Officer Hartzell and all of our fallen comrads rest in peace. My heart goes out to all the members of the YPD...... May God walk with each of you.

Oh, what can I say, except that I also know the heartache of losing a police officer friend to gunfire? Your loved one is patrolling Heaven's streets with some of law enforcement's finest and I pray that God will comfort you in your despair. He did not die in vain. He lived and died a HERO.

Rest easy, brother. We will continue for you so as evil shall never win. God bless to your family and friend's.

Deputy M. Moore
Warren County S.O. (OH)

God Speed Brother and rest in peace knowing that you are a true hero. Those of us left here will continue to fight the good fight just as you did.

Here, I stand again, as the casket of a fallen brother draped with the American flag makes its way past the tear filled eye's of the officer(s) & families left to deal with the pain of
life without a father, husband, friend, & brother.

I watch as a sea of car's, lights rotating/flashing in a show of unity for a friend who paid the ultimate sacrifice. I watch as civilians stand to the side of the road, praying & paying
respect as the procession passes.

I listen as officer(s) fire their weapons in a 21 gun salute, and watch as the family, and other officers jump, as this reminds them of the last sound heard by our fallen brother.

At last, as tears stream down the faces of the mourners at the grave, we watch as the officer(s) are laid to rest, and say our final farewells to him our brother

I reflect, and remember:
All gave some
And some gave all
Some stood through
For the red, white and blue
And some had to fall
And if you ever think of me
Think of all your liberties
And recall
Some gave all. (unknown writer)

MAY YOU REST IN PEACE BROTHER.
