I was getting ready to start the academy at YSU when this happened. I will never forget the countless hours my fellow friends in Law Enforcement worked that day trying to find the person who did this. Officer Hartzell will always be missed and I will never forget him.

We miss your infectious laugh and sparkling smile!! Hurts today as much as it did 8 years ago. So many things have changed... yet some things have stayed the same! No one wants to leave the kids table!! We know you are always with us at that table. Thank you for continuing to be the twins Guardian Angel. When we are at the house they kiss your picture and talk to you as if they have always known you... I know you have been with them all along!! That is why the lil man has survived! i love and miss you. may the road rise up to meet you, may the wind be at your back, may the sun shine warm upon your face... and until we see you again, may God hold you in the palm of his hand xoxoxox

Hey Mike-

Ohio lost another one today way too young. It made me think back to the day my Mom called to let me know you were gone, but this time it was me calling her. It just makes me so sad. I think of you often and of course your Mom...My favorite "Angelica." As I watched the press conference today, it made me cry for not only Officer Dunn and his family, but for you all over again. I think about your Funeral often and how hard it was to see your immediate family and your brothers and sisters in blue mourn for you. Thanks again for entering into the most thankless job there is.

So I saw your car yesterday, and I read a story to my son about Patrolman Michael. He will know you, I promise (and sometimes it seems that he already does). So much has changed and I owe you a big thank you... for the faith. Please give Gram a dance or two;)
