Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Inspector Raymond Joseph Giacomelli

My thoughts and prayers are with Inspector Giacomelli's daughters, family and friends. You will never be alone in your pain. We all hurt when a memeber of our law enforcement family goes down. Psalm 55:22

Denise Nichols - surviving spouse
Alabama State Trooper Brian Nichols EOW 2/17/2002

I was deeply saddened to hear of Ray's murder. It is something that police officers know can happen at any time. It takes someone special like Ray to face it and keep coming back to work every day. I'm sure that he persevered to protect others from what ultimately became his own fate. This makes him more of a hero.
Ray, his family, friends and co-workers will be in our prayers during this difficult time.

God Bless!

I was there when he first became an officer with the PPD. Ray was a friend, and wonderful to work with. A Great loss!

May God grant your family a swift closure and comforting peace. In your absence, may he somehow assure them that you have transcended from this Earthly bond to the ultimate duty -- patroling the streets of heaven under God's command. Rest easy knowing that your brothers and sisters in arms will continue the fight, and eventually join you for a reunion in a far better place than this. Your devotion to duty will stand as an example to many others that follow you. God speed to your assignment, and God bless the remaining peacemakers.

I didn't know Ray personally, but I have family who did and they all say the same thing - he was a great man. He was known throughout his neighborhood as a friend and a "go to" guy.

At the end of the day, not everyone can say that what they did counted for something. Inspector Ray Giacomelli's life counted for more than something and his death serves as a reminder to those of us in uniform to make everyday count.

May God hold Ray's family tight and continue to watch over those who serve.

Please accept my sincere condolences on the loss of your Brother Officer. My prayers go to the Department and certainly to the family. May God bless and keep those of you safe who risk your lives to protect us all.
Be safe.
