Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Philip Guy Billings

To the parents, coworkers, family and friends of this fine young man may God be with you all in this terrible time of loss and may you find peace in knowing that Deputy Billings is in heaven and continuing his watch from above.

The loss of our children (my daughter died exactly 8 months ago on 8/6/02) is the worst feeling in the world and you will need to take it just one day at a time and always remember they were true HEROS now and forever.

What a tragic loss of such a bright young and dedicated life, but certainly not a loss in vain. He died valiantly, serving his fellow citizens and him community. There is no higher calling.

I pray for our departed brother, his family, friends, colleagues and the BCSO. We all share in the pain because we are all family of the badge, even if we wear diferent colored uniforms.

Florida lost one of it's best. He now patrols the streets of Heaven with St. Michael.

God Bless and be safe.

OUR PRAYERS GO OUT TO DEPUTY BILLINGS FAMILY AND TO THE AGENCY THAT LOST ONE OF ITS OWN. WE ALL FEEL THE PAIN. GO HOME OUR BROTHER GOD IS WAITING FOR YOU PHIL.

BAY COUNTY SHERIFFS OFFICE FLORIDA

My thoughts and prayers go out to Deputy Billings Family. As a quote from the National Law Enforcment Officers Memorial states:
"The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are as bold as a lion."
- Proverbs 28:1

He truly is a hero and a righteous person. He truly was bold because of the profession he chose. "To Protect & Serve" Once again our state has lost yet another fine deputy.

My fiance, Dennis McElderry, was the first law enforcement casualty of 2003. It saddens me to know that Dennis was not the first to die in the line of duty, nor will he and Phillip be the be the last to die this way.

Having gone through the pain of losing Dennis I can truly understand and feel the pain that Deputy Billings' family, friends, and co-workers must be feeling. My heart goes out especially to his wife. I wish I could give you a few words of wisdom to help you through this tough time, but there isn't anything I can really say or do to make the situation better. Please know that my thoughts are with you.

Please accept my condolences on behalf of the McElderry family and remember that Phillip is part of huge law enforcement family. If you ever need anything any number of them will be there for you (as I've quickly found out!) From reading the many reflections posted here, I am certain Phillip was well respected and well loved. Thank you for a job well done and for helping to make this world a safer place for us all. Please take care of my fiance Dennis.

Peace, Love, Luck, and Happiness!

ANOTHER SOLDIER FELL TODAY

Another soldier fell today
Not fighting in Iraq but
Fighting in a war that has been going on much longer

Another soldier fell today
CNN will not cover the story
This soldier just as important if not more important
fighting in a war much closer to home

Another soldier fell today
How many people will know
A true hero died trying to protect our own

Another soldier fell today
A true hero in my eyes
Not fighting in a foriegn land but here at home
It was not the enemy that was fighting to protect their country
But an enemy trying to take something that did not belong to them

Another soldier fell today
May God Bless him, his family, and friends
These are true heros who do not fight for fame and fortune
But fight to protect the citizens of our land
From an enemy that looks just like us

Another soldier fell today
How long must we fight this loosing war
A war against crime on our own streets
Against an enemy that keeps coming back

Another soldier fell today.....

A tribute to DEPUTY PHIL BILLINGS.... Killed in Action 4/6/03

Here, I stand again, as the casket of a fallen brother draped with the American flag makes
its way past the tear filled eye's of the officer(s) & families left to deal with the pain of
life without a father, husband, friend, & brother.

I watch as a sea of car's, lights rotating/flashing in a show of unity for a friend who paid
the ultimate sacrifice. I watch as civilians stand to the side of the road, praying & paying
respect as the procession passes.

I listen as officer(s) fire their weapons in a 21 gun salute, and watch as the family, and
other officers jump, as this reminds them of the last sound heard by our fallen brothers.

At last, as tears stream down the faces of the mourners at the grave, we watch as the officer
is laid to rest, and say our final farewells to him, our brother.

I reflect, and remember:
All gave some
And some gave all
Some stood through
For the red, white and blue
And some had to fall
And if you ever think of me
Think of all your liberties
And recall
Some gave all. (unknown writer)

To all my brothers/sisters, may god be with you each and every day, and remember, we are a part
of the largest family in the world, and when one hurts we all hurt.

To Phillip Billings though i knew you not, you will never be forgotten, because you were my
brother!!!!!
