Dear Charles,
As family and friends are preparing for your 1st HPD Memorial locally along with National Police Week in Washington next week, we all agree that it is bringing back fresh memories of what happened a year ago. It is also bringing back many of the cop stories that we shared(one being)of how I teased you about that little yorkshire terrier holding onto to your pants leg while you were in foot pursuit of a suspect. I still think that dog was too scared to let go! I laugh so hard at that story! My dear brother, all of these memories will be with me next week as I honor you. I will make you Proud! We love and miss you!

At the beginning of every shift I supervise, myself and the other officers on shift dedicate the day to the memory of a fallen officer.

Tonight, April 3, 2004 we dedicated the shift to the memory of Police Officer Charles R. Clark who died in the line of duty on this date one year ago.

When one law enforcement officer falls, we all stumble for a while, but we will carry on.

Officer Clark’s sacrifice will never be forgotten.

You gave so much of yourself in your long career and you never got to
enjoy your retirement. Your life ended so violently, but fortunately,
the perpetrators were apprehended. May God comfort
all those who are still grieving your passing. Life is difficult at times
and the Lord Jesus wants to help carry our burdens. He gives us many
beautiful promises in His Word to help us through our valleys. I pray you
will feel His presence and know His peace. God bless!

As the days go on and the tears continue to fall, I can still see your face and your silly grin. They will still be with me as you are. You were taken too soon from us and I wish I knew why. I will continue with my mission to make sure you are not forgotten. Love, Your Sis

To the family and friends goes my deepest sympathy. No one seems to trully understand until it happens to a loved one. Be assured that the only reason he is gone is because God needed more help.
Thank you for your service here Officer Clark.

Saint Michael, heaven's glorious commissioner of police, who once so neatly and successfully cleared God's premisesof all its undesirables, look with kindly and professionaleyes on your earthly force.

Give us cool heads, stout hearts, and uncanny flair for investigation and wise judgment.

Make us the terror of burglars, the friend of children and law-abiding citizens, kind to strangers, polite to bores, strict with law-breakers and impervious to temptations.

You know, Saint Michael, from your own experiences with the devil, that the police officer's lot on earth is not always a happy one; but your sense of duty that so pleased God, your hard knocks that so surprised the devil, and your angelic self-control give us inspiration.

And when we lay down our night sticks, enroll us in your heavenly force, where we will be as proud to guard the throne of God as we have been to guard the city of all the people. Amen.

When tragedy strikes a family it is sometimes the event that brings people closer. I pray that this will be the case for all of the Law Enforcement families across America. Officer Clark, you will be remembered as a Hero to all who knew you, and through this site, all who will admire your selfless courage up against three pathetic cowards. I know your eternal home is a glorious place and you are among the finest to ever wear a badge. Thank you, we will continue the battle in your honor.
