On this 75th anniversary year of your passing, thank you for your service and sacrifice, Sheriff Pierce AKA Great Grandpa Pierce. I am proud to be the great grandson of such a revered and heroic man. Gone but never forgotten. I know you're up there in heaven enjoying your family once again.

I hope to someday visit Cambridge, Illinois and visit your gravesite and see the flagpole dedicated in your honor at the Henry County courthouse. Would also like to travel to Washington D.C. National Law Enforcement Officer's Memorial to see your name displayed there.

I echo my brother, Ryan's sentiments. You helped raise a great man, Robert 'Bob' Pierce, our Grandpa Bob (US Army Veteran, Cuban Missile Crisis era). Grandpa Bob was a beloved man who took great pride in his family and loved them dearly.

May your life story, acts of heroism, and sacrifice always be shared for future generations to come. I wish you and your family eternal peace.

Byron Pierce raised a wonderful son and best grandfather we could have asked for, Robert (Bob) Pierce. They both live on inside our hearts.

I was to be your granddaughter. I'm Paula Deanne O'Hara (Pierce), the only surviving child of your son Bobby. I'm so honored to have been born into the Family of such a Hero as yourself, and wish I'd been given the chance to know you, but that was not meant to be. My dad, your son is with you now, as is your wife, Lelia & my Aunt Helen. I pray you share an Eternity of Blissful Peace together.

Time may have passed but you are not forgotten. I believe as long as someone remembers you or speaks your name, you are still with us.
Thank you for your heroism.

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 66th anniversary year of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace

I am trying to locate the surviving children of Byron Pierce (Uncle Bunn). They are Robert Pierce and the family of deceased Helen Pierce Kelly. I would appreciate any info on my family.

As a former HCSO Deputy I used to walk past the flag pole at the Courthouse dedicated to your memory, I've driven by the site where you were killed going to and from work many times but never heard the story until right before you were memorialized. Thank you Sheriff Pierce your sacrifice kept the County safe and now rest easy we'll keep the watch.
