Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Michael Eron Shannon

Mikee, you are in a better place now. You did your job far and above than was expected. I worked with you for several years and know this. You would come out when not expected from your home or on your way through. You were always thoughtful enough to stop to see if I needed help. You alway worried about everyone. You were one of the very few that were truly dedicated to your job, 24-7. I will cherish the days that I was able to spend time with you. I am just saddened deeply that you were taken by just a evil act toward our dedicated lifestyle. You were 32 years old and had so much more to give. I will alway remember Mikee everytime I make a traffic stop or go on a call. You were my friend and brother.

To the rest of the Adams County bunch, Timmy and your family. Some days I really miss working in Adams County with all the friendships that had developed. It seems that when we are apart, we go our different ways. Today I found that deep kindred that we had. I think of all of you often and I know Mikee is up there looking down at us, while he is giving God the play by play of everything that is going on, because that was Mikee, a one of a kind.

The saying goes, "The good die young." That verse was writting for Mikee. Burhead

My heartfelt condolences and prayers go out to the family, friends, and fellow officers of Michael Shannon. When I heard the news of his death last Friday....my heart sank as I relived the anguish I went through when my sister was killed in the line of duty last August.

Michael is at peace. He'll always be with you. You will see him again someday---a great reunion in the sky.

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou

Deputy Michael Shannon, may God be with you, and His Peace surrounds you now. My heart goes to your sister and Mother. Also, to your police family. Stand strong brothers and sisters, we know what you are feeling, and this to shall pass in time. Deputy Shannon you made a difference somewhere along the way. And it was good. And you made friends, and that was good. And now it is only your footprints you left, and that WAS good. Our Scott would say, "Come in Brother in Blue and have a seat".

You gave the ultimate sacrifice. You may be gone, but you will NEVER be forgotten. We are all family in this job, sometimes we are the only family each other has. In pace requiescat, Rest in peace! Keep a watch on the rest of us as we go on shift each day.

Officer Shannon was a compassionate deputy who assisted us in the past with our developmentally disabled residents. His gentle and caring way of handling a crisis situation impressed us and we feel we need to let his family and friends know how much we appreciated him and how much he will be missed. Adams County was truly blessed and Officer Shannon will be missed by all. We have a sheriff's department here in Adams County that we can be truly proud of and it is because of people like Mike Shannon that we can feel that pride. Thank you, Mike.

God bless this officer, all others who gave their lives for communities around the country, and all the men and women active in law enforcment. Its never an easy job to carry out and comes with little respect. Police Officers are truely the finest god can create. Thank you Deputy Shannon.

Dave

You've served your community with pride and dignity, only to be removed from this earth too soon. God Bless you Deputy Sheriff Shannon, and may God watch over all of us.

Another completely senseless death of a brother in our ever shrinking family of LEO's. Thank you Deputy Shannon for your sacrifice, to his family and friends, please know that we are praying for you and hoping you will be sustained by his love for you. There are really no words to try and relieve your pain... keep his memories close and he will be with you always.

This is my shield.
I bare it before me into battle.
But it is not mine alone.
It protects my brother on my left.
It protects my city.
I will never let my brother out of its shadow,
nor my city out of its shelter.
I will die with my shield before me facing the enemy.

God speed Mike.
