It has been two years now since "Big Glenn" was taken away from us and I still remember that terrible day like it was only yesterday. We mourn his passing, we grieve his absence, but we can all celebrate his life. Glenn Hicks was a great man, a wonderful family man, a great friend to all and a respected and dedicated lawman. He will never be forgotten.

We still miss you my friend!

Paw,
There has been so much to happen while you have been gone to heaven. I asked momma if I could write you a letter to tell you about everything. I am in First grade this year! I have learned to ride my bike with out training wheels, I am learning to read, and I had my first spelling test and made a hundred. I even played T-ball this year. Daddy said you would be real proud of me. I miss you so much paw, I still sleep with your kitty and shirt everynight. Caleb talks about you all the time. He says you come and sit on his bed at night. Cyle is growing, he is starting to talk. I love you and miss you very much.

I remember well when WLOS news announced that there had been another law enforcement officer killed. It breaks my heart to know that we live in such a cruel world.

I stop by this website often after the death of two dear friends with the NCSHP (Troopers Calvin Taylor E.O.W. October 3, 2001 and Anthony Cogdill E.O.W. May 30, 2003).

We all grieve over the lives lost in the line of duty. I hope you can find some comfort knowing that there are countless prayers that go out for your family.

These are senseless tragedies that never seem to stop. God Bless the men and women who continue to serve their communities in our great Nation.

Remembering you on the anniversary of your home-going, Lt. Glenn
Hicks:
It is so sad to come to this site and see all the officers down.
According to these reflections, you knew Jesus personally and that
blesses me greatly as I know I will meet you face to face one day
and be able to thank you for your sacrifice. There is none greater than
Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We don't get to Heaven based on
what we do, but what He did for us!! AMEN! Thank you for your fine
example to those that worked with you and knew you. There is now a
huge void that cannot be filled, but as you are remembered, thoughts will
turn to your exemplary life and we will be filled with pride and respect
and love for the man you became. You were a wonderful testimony to
the Lord you served. God be with all those who mourn and may His
promises lift all those with heavy hearts for many years to come.
