Reflections for Lieutenant Glenn Harold Hicks

TODAY IS ME AND ALICIA HAVE BEEN MARRIED 10 YEARS TODAY I WISH YOU WERE HERE DAD I MISS REAL BAD

It has been over three years since we lost our fried and colleague "Big Glenn" in such a tragic and needless crime. Glenn was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and a true friend to everyone. His passing has still left a void that will not be filled in our hearts. He is serving the Father and Son in Glory, walking Heaven's beat with our other fallen brother and sister officers. God speed Glenn, you will not be forgotten. My prayers remain with the family.

To the family and friends of Lt. Glenn Hicks and his fellow officers with the Avery County Sheriff's Office:

On this the three year anniversary day of Glenn's tragic death, I extend my sincerest condolences for the grievous loss you suffered when Lt. Hicks was brutally murdered in the line of duty. His dedication and valor will be forever remembered.

May you continue to be comforted and supported by your law enforcement family, and other police survivors. There are many who share this painful journey with you who will continue to be by your side.

I hope that your family gets the full measure of justice that you all deserve for this horrific crime. To his son John, I salute your commitment to attending all the court proceedings. As an attorney with 24 years of experience, I know the presence of the victim's family is so important. Hopefully, the defendant will soon be found competent to stand trial.

Most especiallly to Lt. Glenn Hicks himself: Your memory remains cherished and revered. Rest in Peace

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the service Glenn gave to his community and the citizens of North Carolina, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on February 20, 2003.

Brother Hicks,

May the road rise up to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
And the rains fall soft upon your fields,
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Hello Glenn:

You are still as deeply missed today as you were the moments after your death. Your son is doing well, as are your family members, but John and everyone else misses you teribly. I still find it hard to believe I can't stop by the body shop when I am in town and say hi. I know you are in a better place and our lives are better for having known you, but this loss is a hard pill to swalow in life. You will never be forgotten my brother.

With warmest regards,

John

Glenn I havent been able to leave a reflection in awhile, because I have been missing you so bad, it has been really hard for me to deal with all the hurt and pain of losing you. Even though it seems really easy for some others to go on with thire lifes, and make light of the good times we shared together at Holidays, it hasent been that easy for the ones of us that truly did love you and really do miss you. Thanksgiving are as you called it Turkey Day was one of your favorite days not only for the good food we shared but for the time we always spent togeather, and sharing our love for one another, that was the most important thing. It is so hard for me to even thank about Christmas, cause we will spend it without you again, you always made christmas for everyone else so much more special, and yes you always did wont everone eles Christmas to be the best, cause you loved to give more then you loved to receive. But the one thing that keeps me going, is that one day all those of us that live right and die right will see you again, and we will always be togeather forever and ever and never have to part. I love you Glenn and will never forget the great sacrifice you made for us and your country. God bless all our fallen officer and thire familys.

The reflections left by your family and friends, especially by your son John, deeply touch me. We grive with and for your family and share your agony. I sure do miss Glenn. His son and I served our entire time with the Avery Co. S.O. together. He is like a brother to me. I, nor he, have any brothes or sisters so I think that makes our bond that much tighter. I loved Glenn. He was a great frien and a great man. What he stood for was right and fair. He loved the LORD and now he is with him. I'll get to see him one day and tell him how much I love and appreciate him. I want his son to know that I love him. I couldn't ask for a better friend. GODSPEED Glenn, You are truly missed...
