Reflections for Lieutenant George S. Brooks

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." John 15:13

"Blessed are the peacemakers; for they shall be called the children of God." Matthew 5:9

"God is not unjust; He will not forget your work and the love you have shown Him as you have helped His people and continue to help them." Hebrews 6:10

May God rest the soul of the good ole boy Lt. George Brooks you will truly be missed and I want his family to know that I respect him and appreciate all he did to protect the citizens of New Tazewell . God Bless you.

Miss Me-- But Let Me Go

When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me,
I want no rites in a gloom filled room
WHY cry for a soul that's been set FREE?

Miss me a little - but not too long
And not with your head bowed low
Remember the love we once shared;
Miss me - but let me.

For this is a journey that we all must take
And each must go alone,
It's all a part of the MASTER'S plan,
A step on the road to my Heavely Home

When you are loney and sick at heart
Go to the friends we know:
And bury yoiur sorrow in doing good deeds,
Miss me - but Let me go.

we are really going to be miss you George!

We lost an officer, LT Glenn Hicks, of our county's sheriff's office on FEB 20th. Such a sad loss.

We share in your loss, for we are all brothers, sisters and families of the badge.

He now walks Heaven's beat with St. Michael. God bless you all.

Be safe!

Bow my head in somber silence;doubt and fear my newfound friend. my heartbeat quietly mourning, my knees to earthly bend. Tears fall to mix with bloodstains, wailing sirens pierce the night. Holding close my fallen comrade, to my bosom holding tight. Leave me not! I cry in earnest. Stay here my partner, friend. I know not the morrows bringing; I know not the evening's end. Be here with me my goodfellow, see the light tomorrows day, Leave me not alone discerning, just one more smile is all I pray.
Too late ! Too late! The prayers I offer, too late the promise made, Its time to pay the piper, to rest my comrade laid.
Beneath the chin of strength there lies, beneath the tip of hat, A constant empty feeling; a need for one last chat.
Be gone from me dear friend and pal; go rest, no longer fight.and I will carry on today, the cause for what is right.
Awaken to a brand new day, broken badge I wear with pride,
In honor of my fallen comrade, years standing by my side.
I salute you at days dawing, pray for us at that day's end, how i enjoyed at being your partner, how I laughed at being your friend. Think me not forgotten comrade: think me not to bare I pray . Your memory becomes my treasure, until I reach my dying day.

My thoughts

The Badge

It is polished and shiny and looks so fine.
Once you earn it you have to tow the line.
The minute you wear it upon your chest
it becomes a symbol that you are the best.
It means honesty, integrity, and fairness to all.
Your life is never your own, but at the publics call.
Night or day, any hour, it makes you a mark.
It doesn't protect you from a shot in the dark.
Over the years the shine starts to fade,
but brighter still is the man its made.
It is often what seperates you from the crowd.
It is a second family of which you are proud.
So now comes your time, you can't be denied.
When you pin on your badge, wear it with pride
The minute you wear it upon your chest
it becomes a symbol that you are the best.

I Am The Officer"

I have been where you fear to be,
I have seen what you fear to see,
I have done what you fear to do -
All these things I have done for you.

I am the person you lean upon,
The one you cast your scorn upon,
The one you bring your troubles to -
All these people I've been for you.

The one you ask to stand apart,
The one you feel should have no heart,
The one you call "The Officer in Blue,"
But I'm just a person, just like you.

And through the years I've come to see,
That I am not always what you ask of me;
So, take this badge ... take this gun ...
Will you take it ... will anyone?

And when you watch a person die
And hear a battered baby cry,
Then do you think that you can be
All these things you ask of me?

To the family, friends and co-workers of Lieutenant Brooks, please accept my condolences for your loss. May God bless and comfort you.

For many years Lieutenant Brooks helped with the many needs of our school. Whether it be dealing with the ever busy traffic flow in and out of our school or maybe a parent who got somewhat out of hand, he always did his job with patience and understanding. He was never too busy to say Hello or throw up his hand in the parking lot as he monitored traffic. As the tragic news of his death spread among our faculty and staff, almost everyone could recall a special story about George. It didn't matter if it was one of growing up with him or seeing him in the line of duty, each was full of respect and admiration. Many times it was stated that he was "a good old boy." Everyone liked him and his family. To his family, we offer our sincere condolences and prayers. To the officers of New Tazewell, we are thinking of you and share your loss.
The whole community shares your heavy hearts .

Words can't describe how much George will be missed. I have lived in Tazewell all my life, and for as long as I can remember I have known George. He was a wonderful person to know and a good officer. My thoughts and prayers are with his family, co-workers, and his law enforcement family.

My sympathy goes out to the family and fellow officers of Lieutenant Brooks.

While I did not have the privilege to have known him, I am sure that he has earned his seat in heaven. Rest well fellow officer, those of us remaining will cover your post on the blue line.

for many young girls growing up,their dads would chase the boogyman away. for me it was George and Charles Brooks. cause my father was the boogyman. in many of his drunken rages they would come and save my mother from many horrible nights. i beleve that all police officers have a special place in heaven. God be with you all

To the Family: You are in my heart and prayers each day as this has happened. I did not know George very well but saw him often. Such a super nice person and execellent police officer. My heart goes out ot you on your and the world's loss.

My life was made much better by having known and worked with you, George. Gentle and oh so quiet, you will always be my brother-in-arms. Go now to God's great love and rest. When my time comes, I look forward to spending eternity with you.

Former Claiborne County Sheriff's Dept. & friend for over 20 years

My deepest sympathy goes to the eight officers left behind. As the mother of Brent, his partner, I know the depth of this loss. When you have a partner you go to work together and then you go home together. George did go home Wednesday night, not to a modest home in New Tazewell but to a mansion God had prepared for him. George was a christian and loved the Lord, we should all be rejoicing.
I know it is going to be hard to go on; but go on we must.
I hope and pray that the family and the extended family will embrace and support each other. God be with you all.

Rose Ann Clark, Mother of his partner

Sleep well Boss, you will be missed.
