On behalf of the men and women of the Virginia State University Police Department, our thoughts and prayers to the Sachatello family and the Montville Police Department.

Virginia State University Police Department

To the wife and family of Officer Sachatello,
You are in my prayers. I recently lost my soulmate and I found that My bad days are hard and my good days are full of memories of Adam. Make sure that your son knows his father was a one of a kind hero. It takes a special person to up hold the laws that we all hold dear. I know that your husband is in heaven beside Adam and they both are watching over y'alls son and Adams daughter. God needed them both and we may never know why. Lean on your family and you can always depend on the police family from everywhere!

Please remember the fallen officers we have lost. Remember the men and women who died trying to make this world a safer and better place for us all to live in. Thank you Officer Sachatello for a job well done. Please continue to watch over us and protect us as only you can. You will forever be at our side and in our hearts.

For those of you who still have loved ones with us please take the time to tell them how much you appreciate and care about them.

IF I KNEW

If I knew it would be the last time
That I'd see you fall asleep,
I would tuck you in more tightly
and pray the Lord, your soul to keep.

If I knew it would be the last time
that I see you walk out the door,
I would give you a hug and kiss
and call you back for one more.

If I knew it would be the last time
I'd hear your voice lifted up in praise,
I would video tape each action and word,
so I could play them back day after day.

If I knew it would be the last time,
I could spare an extra minute
to stop and say "I love you,"
instead of assuming you would KNOW I do.

If I knew it would be the last time
I would be there to share your day,
Well I'm sure you'll have so many more,
so I can let just this one slip away.

For surely there's always tomorrow
to make up for an oversight,
and we always get a second chance
to make everything just right.

There will always be another day
to say "I love you,"
And certainly there's another chance
to say our "Anything I can do?"

But just in case I might be wrong,
and today is all I get,
I'd like to say how much I love you
and I hope we never forget.

Tomorrow is not promised to anyone,
young or old alike,
And today may be the last chance
you get to hold your loved one tight.

So if you're waiting for tomorrow,
why not do it today?
For if tomorrow never comes,
you'll surely regret the day,

That you didn't take that extra time
for a smile, a hug, or a kiss
and you were too busy to grant someone,
what turned out to be their one last wish.

So hold your loved ones close today,
and whisper in their ear,
Tell them how much you love them
and that you'll always hold them dear

Take time to say "I'm sorry,"
"Please forgive me," "Thank you," or "It's okay."
And if tomorrow never comes,
you'll have no regrets about today.

Joe, you always encouraged me to watch my actions and do the right things. Sometimes that was hard, but with whatever happened your support was there. Good friends are hard to find and you was the best. I talked with Lisa last night and was telling her that no matter what the situation the secrete was safe with you. You never judged. You always said what happened here stays here. Its seems that so many people will do whatever it takes to get a edge, even friends. That was never the case with you. You never let me down. I thank you so much for being the best friend I ever had and I will never forget you. We work a thankless job and it was great having you here to talk with and understand. Keep watching over all of us and guide us. We love ya kid.

Joe I finally made it to Conn. under different circumstance's than we had planned. Lisa and A.J. are both very beautiful and welcomed me as family. Your parents, sister's brother in law's and other relative's are really great people and miss you terribly. I stayed at Rich's house, which was hard becuase he reminds me a lot of you. You have so many great friends and we all miss you. I will continue to talk with you always. I keep your picture in my cruiser so you will remain on patrol.

Joe,

It's been almost two weeks since you left us. Probably for reasons we will never know. I will always remember the good times you, Rich and I had. I will never forget you and everything you stood for. You are deeply missed my friend. Sleep well.

To my Best Man,

It has been 1 week since that horrible phone call that would change our lives forever. I will never understand why God took you so soon. I believe you are in heaven watching over us, keeping Lisa , A.J. , and your family safe. I take comfort
in knowing you reached all your goals; the career you worked so hard for, the woman you waited so long for and your son A.J. when he smiles he touches our hearts, I see YOU looking back through him.
I thank you again for introducing me to your best friend. Rich and I have so many wonderful memories with you , that it softens the edges of the pain we feel. We will share these memories with A.J. as he grows. He will know what a special, giving, beautiful man inside and out, who touched so many people's lives his father is. Lisa finds much comfort in "mini-me" as you called him. She is a strong woman with a lot of support from family and friends. She amazes me. I only wish the two of you had found each other sooner.

I will always love you my dear friend

My fiance, Dennis McElderry, was the first law enforcement casualty of 2003. Having gone through the pain of losing Dennis I can truly understand and feel the pain that Officer Sachatello's family, friends, and co-workers must be feeling. I wish I could give you a few words of wisdom to help you through this tough time, but there isn't anything I can really say or do to make the situation better.

Please accept my condolences on behalf of the McElderry family and and remember that Joseph is part of huge law enforcement family. If you ever need anything any number of them will be there for you (as I've quickly found out!) Joseph was well respected and well loved. Thank you for a job well done and for helping to make this world a safer place for us all. Please take care of my fiance Dennis.

Peace, Love, Luck, and Happiness!
