Reflections for Police Officer Joseph N. Sachatello, III

To Sach and Family,
Session 282 will never forget you Sach! You brought many smiles and laughter to our days at the academy. I will never forget the time you were OC sprayed and you ripped the hose out of the coordinator's hands to rinse the pain from your face ;) I'm sure your little boy is proud of you and all the service you have provided to your community. He will definitely grow up to be a replica of you, such a wonderful young man. May God Bless you, your wife, your little boy and your family as you look over them.
282 Misses You Sach, keep smiling down on us, we will see you again... Godspeed.

My thoughts are with your loved ones on this 4th anniversary of your end of watch. You are a true hero and heroes never die. Continue to keep watch over your loved ones and guide them on the right path in life. They think of you every day and will continue to do so as will the Blue Family. You will never be forgotten.

It is always hard to say good bye to a brother officer. But I know someday we will meet. Just make sure you keep an eye on Chip up there, as for down here to me you are both heros forever.

Joe,

I miss you bro! I know you are here watching over us. Sometimes things happen and I know that you must be watching over me, keeping me safe, and I thank you for that.........

Joe,
Although I dont remember you very well I do think of you from time to time. I think of your friends Mark, Rich and his wife as I do remember them well. I will pray for your family and friends.

The Final Inspection
Officer Joseph N. Sachatello III
stood and faced his God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining.
Just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, Officer Sachatello .
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My church have you been true?"
Officer Sachatello squared his shoulders and said,
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry badges
can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.
But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep....
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't.....I'll understand.

There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As Officer Sachatello waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, Officer Sachatello,
You've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell."

Our second Christmas without you is approaching. I still can't believe it. We had the whole gang over tonight for a gingerbread house party for the kids.

My heart aches for A.J., Lisa remains strong most of the time; she is truly remarkable. We feel you near in spirit always. Our 'Little Joe' is keeping us busy. We smile as we watch the boys play and wonder what they will get away with, as you and Rich did growing up.

We miss you terribly, my dear friend. What I would give to have one of your big hugs one more time, to hear your hearty laugh, or to see that beautiful smile, but then again I just have to look at A.J. He is a blessing from God.

Remembering you on the anniversary of your death. May God comfort
all those who are still grieving your passing. Life is difficult at times and
the Lord Jesus wants to help carry our burdens. He gives us many
beautiful promises in His Word to help us through our valleys. I pray you
will feel His presence and know His peace. Thank you for your ultimate
sacrifice, Sach. Your death was a tragic loss for all of us. You had so
much to offer and your time here was way too short. You will live on
forever in our memories. There's no getting over this, it's way sad.

Joe,
You are one of a kind and your passing has left a void in the hearts of those who knew you. My heart aches that you are not here for your son. But, I'm certain that you are now amongst other angels like yourself, watching over your wife and child. I thank God that I had the chance to get to know you many years ago. God Bless You always.

To Joe's family - You have my deepest sympathy. Please know that my prayers include all of you.
