Reflections for Officer Andre Gerard Booker

Hi sweetie,

Sometimes I can't believe its been 3 years since I've held your hand but others times it seems like it was just yesterday. I hope you know how people still love and respect you. It was very nice seeing so many of your friends and co-workers yesterday. You are so missed. We will continue to celebrate you life and grieve your untimely departure to heaven. As you already know, I will forever love you with all my heart. Until we meet again, rest well.
Your babygirl,
Lee Ann

Dear Officer Booker and Family,

I read the story of your accident and cried because I could feel all over again the resolve and determination and adrenalin rush that I know you guys get when you are confronted with the lawbreakers and evil that confronts you continually.

We lost our precious son a year and a half ago. All he ever wanted to do was be a police officer. He loved it......the good and the bad.......he hated having to deal with the same people over and over and watching the courts turn them lose time after time.
He tried to make a difference in people's lives and I know you did too.

We remember you today and your sacrifice.

With Love,
Linda Rittenhouse, Matt's Mom

Hi sweetie,

I don't come to this site enough because I you tell everything that's on my mind and in my heart all day every day. But, seeing that you continue to get heartfelt messages, just warms my spirit. Sometimes, I feel I'm all alone in my heartbreak but I'm quicky reminded that so many people care about you and that you touched so many other lives. I don't know why I would expect any less knowing what impact you had and continue to have on my daily life.
You are awesome...always have been and always will be. Just today a co-worker gave me a check for your scholarship fund. See, you continue to help young people.
I was blessed to see all of your family this past weekend. Your mom and David are doing well. I'm sure you know the big news!!!
Unfortunately, we continue to lose more of your fellow officers around the country. I wish I could make it stop! Please watch over the New Orleans PD as they have suffered the next worse thing next to death, total devastation and civil unrest.

I love you and I will praise the day we are reunited in Heaven.

Forever yours,
Lee Ann

Andre,

I met your LeAnn in DC this year. I hope you are in Heaven enjoying everything our Lord has promissed. Say hello to Scott for me.

LeAnn,

I just wanted you to know I was thinking about you.

Big Hugs to you, Andre, and all of his family,

Monica

Andre, it has taken me a lot to send you a reflection. This reflection comes through tears as I remember the way that you touched my life. I remember running with you in the academy, seeing you graduate, and you being the first officer to respond to my mayday. It was comforting hearing your siren as you came to my aid and seeing you when you got there. Every academy class that I teach remembers and honors you. You will never be forgotten and brother I will see you again.

As I reviewed the messages posted here, I cried and thought about the sacrifices made by current and former Police Officers of Henrico County Police Department. As a former Police Officer of HPD, I know about the dedication made by our fallen comrades. God Bless!

Lee Ann:

I pray that you are getting stronger and stronger every single day. I see that it has been just over 2 years now, but that does not change one's love. Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers that each day the pain will get just a bit better. Take care of yourself as much as possible.

In the blink of an eye for the way that he tried, he paid the ultimate price.... Along with all others whom we honor each spring with words that we speak and the songs that we sing. Lies the question we all ask, which no one can say.....Andre gave his all....Did I come close today?

The last time I saw you was the evening before we lost you. Standing next to you at the Magistrates window. You were booking one in, I was releasing one. I have thought about that conversation and those few minutes we spent together often. I truly regret the fact that I did not get to know you better. As you walk you beat in heaven, I hope the shifts are short, the calls are few and the pay is better....rest easy now.....we'll take it from here.

Lee Ann,

Thanks for leaving condolences on my fiance's page. It is a terrible thing that bonds us, but I know with the love of our lost loved ones and the support and the support of new friends, like yourself, we will make it through this.

Best of luck,

Jocelyne

PS: I will be at Police Week 2004. Look me up if you make it out there.

I stop by this website often after the death of two dear friends with the NCSHP (Troopers Calvin Taylor E.O.W. October 3, 2001 and Anthony Cogdill E.O.W. May 30, 2003).

We all grieve over the lives lost in the line of duty. I hope you can find some comfort knowing that there are countless prayers that go out for your family.

These are senseless tragedies that never seem to stop. God Bless the men and women who continue to serve their communities in our great Nation.

Although we had never met, we still wore the same uniform and I would have defended your life to the death just as you have defended ours with yours. Thank you Andre, and may God Bless You and your family. You are in a better place now, one in which we can only dream of and wait for God's invitation. Watch over us Andre, and we will meet each other properly someday.

Although I did not get to know Andre' on a personal level, I did see him at work in our Administration Offices. Every time that I did see him, he had a big ole' smile that you could never forget. He had that smile for his co-workers and I saw that smile as he talked to some citizens in the lobby about a police related incident. God bless, Andre!!

Booker, it was a long academy that we made it through and remebering the big smile your face always had is a hard thing to forget. Its been a few months since you passed on from that tragic accident but i still find myself riding by the parking lot and looking at that pond trying to forget that's where you left us. I only wish that accident could have been prevented. I still find myself on midnights thinking about the academy and thethings we all did together.I sincerely hope justice is done to the cause of this tragedy. God bless you Booker.
