Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Officer Christopher Robert Betts

Fourteen years...memories the of entire Betts family, and the East Point Police Department, churn through my thoughts often and bubble right to the surface every Christmas season since that horrible morning in 2002. Chris is not forgotten. His family's loss is not forgotten. We were all forever changed. I miss Chris's work ethic, his dedication to his family, his hard-headedness, and his laugh. I still remember his laugh.

We still remember that horrible morning - 13 years later. We will never forget. To the entire Betts family: You, too, are not forgotten. The astronomical pain you must feel during each holiday season cannot even be imagined by us. Know that Chris's memory is acknowledged throughout the world today by those who work in East Point and by those of us who have scattered around the globe. In some sense, he lives on in the stories we tell. A toast to Chris - a toast to the entire Betts family!

12 years brother. Getting older as time marches on. You are still thought of often. Finally made Sergeant. Wish we could have made it together.

As it has been said time and time again, you're always in our thoughts. Jeni and I opened a new chapter and hope that you're ok with riding with me up here in the cold, back home in Ohio. Thanks for watching over me brother and I hope you continue to ride with me.

EPPD held your annual memorial service at gravesite. Your Mom, Brothers, Sisters, Nephews/Nieces, your Son and I. were present. Many good things were said about you which we didn't have to be reminded of the type of person you turned out to be. Your are greatly loved and missed by many and never forgotten by so many more.

You have made us very proud to be the man you turned out to be. Merry Christmas Chris!

Where did ten years go? At times it feels like yesterday morning. At times it feels like an eternity ago. The days and years have mingled together, and we all have gotten older in the blink of an eye - all of us but you. You are still missed. Your memory and your sacrifice are honored today. The sacrifice of your parents, and your sisters, and your brothers still makes me tremble. They, too, are not forgotten.
