Reflections for Patrolman Lawrence Michael Jupin

Its been 4 years ago that you fell Brother Lawrence. I thank you, though we never met, for your service and courage. We all could pray to have a back up officer as dedicated as you were. Rest in peace, we won't forget you.

I regret most that we lost the opportunity to know each other better. We hadn't seen each other since we were kids, and now the chance is gone. You were so obviously loved and honored by so many people that the emotions are overwhelming. We will see each other again someday. Until then, watch over all of us. We miss you terribly and think of you often. You are, in every way, a hero.

When through one man a little more love and goodness, a little more light and truth come into the world, then that man's life has had meaning.

"One thing I know: the only ones among you who will be really happy are those who will have sought and found how to serve."
Nothing can replace your loved one, but know that he will never be forgotten. He did not lose his life-he gave it in service.
Rest easy, Brother, you are remembered.

I attended the 21st M.P.O.C. with Officer Jupin and feel tremendously privileged to be able to say that. He was always "highly motivated and truly dedicated." The residents of Westminster should count themselves fortunate to have had Larry among them, as should we all. "It is not the destination, it is the journey." During his brief stay, he touched so many. He protected others so that they may sleep soundly. He made the ultimate sacrifice so that others may be safe. I feel honored to say I "know" Officer Jupin. Larry, you have been called home so that now you may rest, but I know you are still on the job, looking over all of us. Rest In Peace Brother In Blue.

My heart goes out to you your family and the members of your department. We lost a member several years ago under a similar set of circumstances. Each day seemed harder. But remember that when god takes someone this young and strong he has a tougher assignment for them. For god needs the good to help him. Safe journey.

THE POLICEMAN’S LAST ROLL CALL ...

THE POLICEMAN STOOD AND FACED HIS GOD, WHICH MUST ALWAYS COME TO PASS. HE HOPED HIS SHOES WERE SHINING, JUST AS BRIGHTLY AS HIS BRASS. "STEP FORWARD NOW, POLICEMAN. HOW SHALL I DEAL WITH YOU? HAVE YOU ALWAYS TURNED THE OTHER CHEEK? TO MY CHURCH HAVE YOU BEEN TRUE?"

THE POLICEMAN SQUARED his shoulders and said, "No, Lord, I guess I ain’t. Because those of us who carry badges can’t always be a Saint. I’ve had to work most Sundays, and at times my talk was rough, and sometimes I’ve been violent because the streets are awfully tough. But I never took a penny that wasn’t mine to keep, though I worked a lot of overtime when the bills just got to steep. And I never passed a cry for help, though times I shook with fear. And sometimes, God forgive me, I’ve wept many unmanly tears. I know I don’t deserve a place among the people here, they never wanted me around except to calm their fear. If you’ve a place for me Lord, it needn’t be so grand. I never expected or had too much, but if you don’t, I’ll understand."

There was silence all around the throne where the Saints had often trod. As the policeman waited quietly, for the judgement of his God. "Step forward now, policeman, you’ve borne your burdens well. Come walk a beat on Heaven’s streets, you’ve done your time in hell."
