I received a speeding ticket on the way into Enid for Thanksgiving from Trooper Van Krevelen. I thanked him for his service to our community. I told him I went to school with a Jean Ann Van Krevelen. He was incredibly handsome and personable. He is buried closely to my very good friend's daughter. She needed a heart transplant and was only 10. I thank him for watching over Shanika Webster. I will never forget Trooper Van Krevelen.

I woke up in the middle of the night last night, reliving that day Chris had his last call. It still bothers me for you see, I was one of the first on the scene that Thanksgiving afternoon. I was working for LIFE EMS in Enid playing cards with my partner and the other crew when we received a car-v-train call We headed out and were canceled shortly after we left the station. We went back to our card game when we were dispached to a car fire. You don't call an ambulance for a car fire unless it is not good. Upon arrival I pulled the ambulance past the car and began walking back to it. As I reached the car, I heard gunshots and retreated. It was then I saw all these booklets and papers strung out in the grass on the side of the road and on fire. My partner Jamie Moser and I looked to see what they were and discovered they were Oklahoma Driver Training Manuals. We looked at each other and determined this was an OHP car, because you could not tell from the fire. Coming across his ticket book, I looked and discovered it was Trooper Van Krevelen. We both began to frantically look in the car to see if we could do anything, but we couldn't. The car was hanging from the guard rail and I yelled at the EPD officers below to move out from under the overpass as it might fall to the street below. I collected his ticket book and Trooper Hat and sat them in a safe place. Jamie and I felt so helpless.
The rest of the day and evening was spent talking about Chris as we all knew him and enjoyed working a scene with him. He was a fun guy to work with.
I pray every time I see an OHP officer heading to an incident. I don't ever want another officer to not return home to his family at the end of a shift. I know it has been several years since this happened but every once in a while I relive that afternoon in a dream. I hope his family is doing well and wish them a good life.

I thought of you today when I heard of Trooper Pete Norwood's sudden passing. Both of you worked an accident that my son was in, and both of you told me how lucky I was to have my son live through such an accident. I also think of you every Thanksgiving evening, as you were on your way to work an accident 1/4 mile from my house. I wasn't home at the time, but I was coming home from Blackwell and witnessed the remains of your automobile on the overpass. My heart hurts every time I think of that night. Say hello to Trooper Pete for us.....

You was the perfect choice for Steve as a groomsmen in our wedding in 95, we only wish we would have stayed in touch before you passed. Since the day you passed, Steve tells our kids what a fun guy you were at ElReno, and how honorable your service was as a trooper. You are remembered this day and always. We pray for your family, as we know they will always miss you.
