Reflections for Officer Ronald Manfred Wood

Woody,

Your brothers and sisters at SJPD will never forget you. May God temper the anguish of your family and your friends. Thank you for always being there to help whenever any officer needed it. The radio will never be the same without 7 motor 72 coming across it. Rest easy brother.

Sgt. Justin Larsen

"MOTOR 72..TRAFFIC"
I miss hearing your words with that deep voice. You are constantly on my mind as a fallen brother and HERO.

I didn't know you as well as your WJPD family but you were there to back me on numerous occasions. Your sense of humor was so much fun!

Thank you for your many hours of dedication to keeping the public safe from harm. Thank you for rushing to back your brothers and sisters in blue.

May your family, friends and WJPD live in peace knowing you are only a thin veil away.

Thank you for your service beyond self. Your job was dangerous, and you did it well, despite the danger. You are a hero, a servant of your community. A defener of what our country is all about. You've served your time in hell, now you can enjoy your reward with the police in heaven. We will see you again. I suspect you will look, and be, as professional as you were when your life was taken. Rest brother in arms, we will continue the watch, that justice will always prevail. God bless you, and your surviving family.

And we are far better officers for having had the chance to know you.

May Heavenly Father bless you Officer Wood. Your family will be watched over from on high and from here by your family in blue.
You will never be forgotten for the sacrifice you made. Full honors are being poured onto you and your loved ones. No one deserves it more. Who knows how many others may have died if you hadn't
been there? Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

There have been angels in our lives.
While they haven't arrived with a blast of trumpets,
or a rustling of wings,
we've known them just the same.

They perform their acts in human guise,
sometimes borrowing the faces of family or friends,
sometimes posing as well meaning strangers.
You have known them too.

Just when the right words were needed,
when a tiny act of kindness made a great difference,
or perhaps you heard a voice whispering in a night of sorrow
the words not quite clear, but the meaning unmistakable.

"There is hope... there is hope."

Woody was and is one of our angels. He will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.

Thanks for everything Woody!

Words can not express the feeling of loss. Instead I will turn to God's words for comfort: John 15:13, Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

God bless the family, friends and co-workers of Officer Wood. We mourn with you.

Deputy Sheriff West District

Officer Wood, may God speed. You will be remembered as a truly remarkable Officer with such dedication for the job. You always spoke highly of your Department, fellow Officers, and loved serving your Community. West Jordan has truly lost a hero. On Monday morning, you left us to end your 'tour of duty' on earth. You heard God's voice, and responded immediately (like you always have), and called out "10-41"...in Heaven. Ron, it sure has been a pleasure knowing you. Thank you.

"The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you...and give you peace." (Num. 6:24-26)

Our thoughts and prayers are with your family, friends, and your agency. God Bless....

Motor Seventy Two

The many traffic stops you did make
in your low, but friendly voice.
How were we to know today would be the last,
And now, our hearts do ache…

For your dimpled smile, the sound of your Harley
As you chased those speeders down,
Always willing to “take the back” for
Any officer, in ANY city or town.

You were the BEST Woody,
all of us dispatchers would say,
To come out of nowhere
when things went wrong
Like you did on that fateful day…

May God bless and keep you safe now.
From your brothers and sisters in blue,
And please know while you are up above
In our hearts, you ARE still with us and
will never be 10-42…

Nadalee Nunnelley, dispatcher
Valley Emergency Communications
