I just want to leave my condolences with the family and friends of officer Patrick Metzler who was a dear friend to me. I apprecitated his compassion and his kind words he had given me while he was here in my presence. He will be greatly missed and loved by all who had known this man. My love and prayers go to all who have been affected by this tragic loss, and to my friend Metz.

Ive had some occassions to where I'd run into Patrick from time to time rather it was on the streets or in jail . I didnt know much about him, but I knew enough to know he was a terrific person and will be missed.

All who are feeling this pain are not alone. I share your loss. Your feelings, your pain. I lost a best friend in blue to a drunk driver last year. It's the hardest thing in the world to accept. It really sucks that this outcome could have been prevented, and it makes me so irate that this suspect is going to stand in court and demand his rights...he should have none. I will cry tears of sorrow with you, but also will I stand by your side. This officer died trying to make the world a better place. And even though he is gone I could not think of a more honorable exit. To family and friends...GOD BLESS, you will all be in my prayers....Stay safe out there...

Future Police Officer

Sincere sympathy to the family of PO Metzler. May God grant you the peace that only He can give.

RIP and God bless you Officer Metzler. Another tragic loss of a brother in blue at the hands of an irresponsible loser. It's a sad day, not just in Dallas, but across the country as we have lost another hero. Watch over your brothers and sisters in blue, in Dallas and around the country, as we continue the watch in your name.

Another officer senselessly lost to a drunk driver. Pat leaves a terrible void in the Gang Unit and the department as a whole. May God grant his family peace and protection in the long days ahead. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Rest in Peace Pat.
