Reflections for Police Officer Larry DeWayne Lee

Hey Larry,

Thanks for being a father to me. I always strived to be like you every day I put on my uniform. I only wish I could have told you how much you really taught me. Love ya man.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of Officer Larry Lee. We experienced this pain December 26th last year when we lost one of our officers in the line of duty. We extend our deepest sympathy and pray that time will help to ease the pain that this tragedy has caused. May God bless you all.

My fellow Officer you now trade your cruiser for a horse of white to patrol the endless pastures and valley's, may the cool winds of fall blow the pain of your loved ones away and the sun warm there souls with your good memories that you have gave them. My brother its time to saddle up and ride, ride like the wind my friend.

Until we ride together some day patrolling the heavens.

Happy Trails and God Bless

I didn't know Larry but had the pleasure of meeting several officers from the Jackson County area a few years ago at Bruce Evans funeral. Bruce was killed in much the same manner as Larry and I know it has to be a shock to all of you in Jackson County and especially at Moss Pointe PD. I'm sure you were a fine officer and a good all around person. We have lost another brother but gained another angel. May God bless you, your family and friends. Rest in peace brother.

Officer Lee was laid down in his final resting place on 10-21-02.
It was a great service with an unbelievable amount of people, officers and civilians alike. I estimate at least 1000 people came to pay their last respects. It is no suprise to me that Officer Lee had so many friends. His personality and good humor drew you towards him and you couldn't help but smile when he was around.
I only knew him for a few days before his death and I feel the pain as if I had known him all my life.
I would like to thank ODMP for their outstanding support. I submitted Officer Lee's information and the next day it was posted. You may also find a memorial site in Officer Lee's honor.
Goodbye Larry...until we meet again in God's kingdom.

Theodore Cossitt

Larry,
You were the first one to welcome me into the family down here when I moved to Mississippi from DC. Although my big city cop style was far removed from your laid back manner we worked well together. You were a great cop and I'm honored to call you a friend and a brother. I know you're in a better place(probably drinking a beer and watching NSCAR!)and I'll see you at roll call one day. Watch over us, brother.

I would like to share a thank you to all those who give their life in the line of duty. I am an ex-felon. It took a good man to come to me and say that is not going to happen again! I may have to come to you and give my life to stop you but I do so out of the most sincere love for you and for those who you have wronged! Yes, love for you! Love that prays that you will see your wrong and turn your life around. This is a love that I would give my life daily for. In fact, I would and do give my life daily with hopes that I could make a significant difference to one person! Not a moderate change but a life changing love. I will tell you that I am such a person! I have changed and I like to think that the officer who stopped me gave enough to me that I now have something to give back to those who give so much.

Larry Lee was one of the best guys i have known. I may not have known him in real life, but when i had played him on a game called Counter-Strike, i knew he was one of the better guys! I really hate to see him go. he was only doing his duties, and helping a fellow officer. Officer Larry Lee will never be forgoten.

Larry I miss you alot.

It's times like this when we must all pull together. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Officer Lee. Dear Officer Lee, You choose a dangerous career. You knew that one day you may not return home. You knew that your life would be threatened...yet you still gave your all to make the world a better place. The sacrifice you made will never be forgotten. Your name will live on forever to all who you serviced and to those who read the ODM page. You are my hero. I only pray that I will be as good an officer as you. GOD BLESS ~ALS~
