Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Morris L. Taylor

Hi Son:

Well it will soon be Christmas and this time of year always brings back memories of when you and your sister were small. You would be so excited on Christmas morning with that big, wonderful smile and always ready to have your picture taken. Dad and I miss that smile, as does the rest of the family. Then we remember it is Jesus Birthday and know that you are smileing up there in Heaven with Him. We will always miss you, but your are always in our heart and we do have such wonderful memories.

Love and Hugs,
Mom and Dad

Morris, I never knew you but feel as though I know something about you from conversations with your widow. You are missed by her and by a lot of others judging from the reflections I've read.

We have a few things in common, amongst them the love of aviation (I, too, am a flight instructor and pilot with my agency), law enforcement, and Christianity (without the religion).

You were truly a Romans 13:4 Deputy. I saw a very cool tattoo in your honor, recently. You'd be proud. Rest In Peace.

For he is God's servant to do you good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword for nothing. He is God's servant, an agent of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer.

Morris was a good friend, maby the best I ever had! I miss his smile and since of humer. Morris helped many times with my business. He was conserned about his fellow officers. Morris said he hoped they would become christians.and love the Lord as he did.

He enjoyed being an officer but at times he said he would get in trouble with his boss for witnessing to people about Christ. I hope his bosses wqill remember his witnessing and know God as Morris did.

Morris, I really miss the days of chatting with you at the airport, helping you study for that dreaded private pilot check ride. I remember how much joy it was for you to get up in the air and fly on a calm summer morning. I also remember how much you dreaded those blustery turbulant days, but you always seemed to take it all in with a smile.I just wish we had the chance to go fly a few times. I miss ya buddy. May you always have clear days, VFR conditions and calm winds.

During the loss of my sister Anna, Morris was a comfort to our family. For mor than two years our family travled the road of sorrow. Morris was not only the dare officer at our school but he shared his faith with all of us. Morris gave us comfort in reading to us 2 Corinthians 1, "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all tribulations, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort, we ourselves are comforted by God. Over the years I have shared what Morris taught us and what we have learned from God, and what we've learned about him. Our family has been touched by the comfort He has brought us through His Word Our family Remembered Morris and his family September 14, 2006 Deputy Sheriff Morris Taylor shared his faith with us now we share our faith with you.

The comfort God has given us He wants us all to share with others who, with broken harts, are caught in deep despair.

Morris stated to our family, "Those who have suffered are best able to help those who are suffering."

You were a good friend and a good officer. You helped many as a Dare officer in the town I grew up in and as a school resource officer, not only that you were reasonable and understanding. You were a great friend o my step-father and worked side by side with him for many years and held a long bonding friendship with us all. We will always love and miss you.

From what we have read and by talking with Deputy Morris's Taylors family. he was a great officer.

As a Christian man we know he is with our Lord.

Remember that Morris gave his body to protect and serve the people of Douglas County. His life was dedicated to serve God. Man can kill the body but morris gave his life to Christ. and to be absent from the body is to be with the lord.

God bless his wife and family. My prayers are with you today.

Tomorrow 9-14-06 will be the fourth year since you were taken from us. We miss you so much.

Dad and I are having a memorial placed in the Roseburg News Review, with your smileing handsome face.

We don't want the people of Douglas County to ever forget you and that you gave your life, protecting the good people of that county.

As the 4th anniversary of Deputy Taylor's ultimate sacrifice approaches, I send the love and encouragement only Jesus can give to his family. I rejoice knowing that you will all be able to see him again one day. My son David recently joined our county Sheriff's dept. as a deputy, making him the 4th generation of law enforcement officers in the family. Daily I must pray 4 his safety in our very dangerous community.

Morris,

It is so hard to believe it has been four years, but then it feels like it has been a hundred years since we heard you laugh and saw that sparkle when you smiled.

They have made the road you patroled & died on the "Deputy Morris Taylor Memorial Hwy." The sign are up and I will be going out to the motel where you were killed and placing flowers, like we do EVERY YEAR now.

We miss you here in Douglas County! Margaret had to move as it was too hard for her to be here and drive past the motel and all the other things. Bless her heart Morris, I know you are as proud of her as we are. She fights everyday to keep going on. She misses you so much! I have not talked to your Mom in awhile but, I know she and your Dad miss you terribly. You were such a blessing in their lives, she has told us all.

Please know that you are in our hearts everyday!

God Bless & Protect All Our LEO as they protect us!!!

As I get up today and read what your parents wrote the tears just start streaming again.I thought I was gonna survive this day but I see I was fooled once again.I will never understand those that think the pain will lessen one day.I bet the celebration in heaven is better than the special chocalate cake I made Morris on his last birthday.Lord, tell Morris again I love him and miss him and still tell others how much glory he brought You Lord in his death on a regular basis.Friends, let your lives live as a tribute to Morris everday. It will be 4 years since your tour of duty ended and I know that the tears still flow and countless hearts are still broken. You will never be forgotten by those that love you nor will the Blue Family ever forget you. Wrap your wings around all your loved ones and help them with their grief and keep them safe. I know your parents carried you in their arms when you were a baby and now carry you in their hearts and always will for as long as they walk this earth. You have not been forgotten and are a True Hero.

I can't imagine loosing a spouse or child in such a tragic manner. Knowing Morris' wife & that she loves the Lord - that is the only way I can immage walking through this "valley of the shadow of death" when a loved one is lost. It was touching to read the messages from loved ones and those who obviously cared deeply for Deputy Sheriff Morris Taylor. May our Lord and Savior Jesus comfort and strengthen each of you.
