Reflections for Special Officer Frank J. Schimunek

Officer Schimunek,
Sir, I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice-not just as a Law Enforcement Officer but for our Country as well when you served with the U.S. Army during World War I. And to your Family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.

As Special Officer Schimunek's only great-granddaughter, I want to thank everyone that takes the time to view his memorial page or leave a comment on it. It makes my heart happy to know that he isn't forgotten.

His only son, who was only 4-years-old at the time of his death, passed 90 years to the day after him (March 14, 2018). I find comfort in knowing they are finally enjoying time together.

Thank you for your service, and I hope you are resting in peace.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 84th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

Rest In Peace.

Far too often railroad police officers are not noticed or not acknowledged. I am glad to see Special Officer Schimunck honored here. Justice may be blind, but these officers are the healthy eyes of the rails. God bless Frank Schimunck, and his fellow high-iron officers for their work and countless sacrifices.
