Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Police Officer Beryl Wayne Scott, Jr.

It is nearly six years since your left us and moved to God's Police Department in heaven and yet it seems just like yesterday. I can still envision your soft and loving smile, your love for family and your devotion to your service in law enforcement. Your honor, your skills and your integrity will always be forefront in the description of your work ethic here and will always serve as a model for those coming into the job to emulate. Alissa has been doing a wonderful job with the daughter you didn't get to hold here. I know you have held her from heaven and she must have felt your love pouring out to her. As you go about your duties noknow that you are still deeply missed by all your brothers and sisters still here. You will never be forgotten and your family will always be looked after.

Rest in peace Brother, I may the roads in heaven be smooth under your two wheels and will hear you in thunder. Proud to have served with such a hero

Alissa
I want to thank you for the words you and Lisa provided to Joshua Norris EOW 7/5/07 who was to be my son in-law , they touched my daughter and has helped my family during a dark time. My daughter had a general idea of how large our police family was, since her grandfather retired from the force, and uncle, aunt and I are still on the job, but your reflection showed just how large the family of blue is. Both of you are Angels and both of your families are in my families prayers. God Bless you

Hi Alissa, although I have never met you I did know Wayne from about 1997 time frame on. He mentored me through difficult personal times during which I lost my father tragically and unexpectedly. Wayne was so kind and offered a ear when I needed it. Wayne is the very reason I became a police officer. I have been a officer now for over 5 years and was devastated that Wayne died a week before I got hired. I never got to tell him what his kindness meant and how he was the reason I made the choice to go into this career field. Through every mile stone, the academy, graduation, FTO, becoming a DRE and gearing my career towards traffic related investigations/enforcements, Wayne I know has been there guiding me from above. He was such a great person who touched so many! I pray God gives you strength for little Kati, as I too know the devastion of losing my father at a young age and growing up without him. It sounds like you are doing a GREAT job raising her to know Wayne! I know he would be proud! You and Kati will always be in my prayers.....God Bless!

Miss you Wayne, the tears and heartache are just as fresh as they were the day we lost you. I know you are resting in peace brother, watch after us as we continue the watch! See you soon!

Wayne,

Today was Kati's 5th birthday. Can you believe it? The girls (Aunties) all took her out to get made up as a princess and then took her out to lunch. We really had fun. Even though it was a girls only day out, I know she felt you there in spirit. She misses you and speaks of you often. I miss you.

Love,
Ali

"The Badge"
He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.
He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.
Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.
He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.
His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.
He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.
And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.
But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.
Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.
Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.
So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.
In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.
Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

Wayne,

I just found this memorial page and wanted to leave you a note to tell you that I still think of you often and miss your teasing banter. The days we worked together at GOHS were some of the best memories I have. Hope your family is doing well and be sure and watch over all of us as we continue "to protect and serve".

Well we held the 5th Annual Memorial Ride this past weekend for the Fallen Officers in our state. The ride was beautiful!! Our thougts were with you and the famalies of ALL Fallen Officers.

We visited your resting place and let me tell you I had so many memories of the day you left us. Clyde was there with me and we talked about you.

I know you are watching over us. You're probably laughing at all of us wondering why we do some of the things we do.

Hey Wayno,
It is so difficult to believe that you have been gone for 5 years. You have been in my thoughts so much the last few days. I have been looking at pics of us growing up and I have so many memories that they become overwhelming. The best pics are the ones I have in my head. I envision you up in heaven with your mom, grandma, uncle dave and kyle and I know that you are so incredibly happy. We all miss you and talk about you often. Dennis and I went to Kauai for our 25th anniversary and we passed a Harley Davidson dealership so we both bought ourselves a shirt for you. I so look forward to the day when we can all be together again, it will be better than the best Christmas Eve we ever had.
I send this with all my love and a giant hug,
Lori

Hello buddy
In some ways it feels like you have been gone forever and in some ways it seems you just left. The memories of that day will never leave me. I can still hear the dispatchers voice when she put out motor down call and the sound of Bob's voice when he called me and said its Wayne get to the hospital quick and to call him as soon as I knew something but there was no need to call. We all knew you left us. I remember holding your hand while the nurse cleaned you up before Alissa and your family got there. I am so thankful they didn't see you like that. Dave and I have a beautiful daughter now and she looks at your picture and tells us she likes your bike and wants a ride. I got to catch up with your Dad on your memorial ride this past weekend. He has made it every year and we always have fun. Mark planned it this year and it went really well.
Please rest in peace for we are all doing well.
Dave and I miss you.
Until we meet again my friend
goodnight

Wayne,

Wow, I can't believe it has been five years. My mom and I think about you often. I am determined to follow you and Tony, and become AZPOST certified soon. Keep protecting the Phoenix streets from above, and keep an eye on Dad for me. We miss you both.

Wayne,

I can not believe that it has been 5 years since your passing. So much has happened, and I am thankful for all that life has brought to me with our daughter. Time is a funny thing. While we all miss you so much, time has finally brought peace to me in your passing. It has been a long time coming, and I can only hope that others will finally let go and find peace too.

There is still so much anger and resentment, and I KNOW you would not want this for us, especially for your special little one. She is a gift to us, and she is innocent and precious. I pray that people will let go and move on with there lives. If only people knew how much of you lives on through our daughter, and how they could see not only her as her special unique little person.....but as a living part of you.

I know that you are in heaven, at peace, and with us at all times. Oh how I miss those special times. It is so hard not to think of the what if's....

We went on the memorial ride in your honor this weekend. The ride was in memory of the 2006 Arizona Fallen Officers. I was amazed at all the people I met who were so kind to us and who knew you. Once we got back into town I was approaced by a Sheriff Officer who took the time to introduce himself and told me he knew you well and he had kind words for us. He wanted to know where in his area we lived and would watch over us. It was great to know there is still that support out there.

Your daughter has many gifts and she is blessed with so many of your talents. Keep watching over her, guiding me to raise her in the best way that I can. There is NO replacement to a child who has lost a father. She misses you so much. Even though you passed before she was born, she has such a strong connection to you. It was as if she knew you before she was born. I continue to give her a strong image of you, and she is proud of her daddy who now is a police man in heaven. When she speaks of you to others, she has such a strong inner strength.

No worries, for we all love her so much and my friends and family will always support and protect her and I.

Wayne as this is the beginning of a week of times to reflect and honor your birth, life, and death here with us as today comes and goes, and then your birthday comes on the 18th. I ask that Katianna and I feel your presence even stronger this week, and that you be with others too.

Until we meet again! We love you and miss you!

Wayne,
Well another year has past with you in our memory. You have not been forgotten. This weekend, Sept. 8th we are having another Memorial Ride in your honor remembering those who have lost their lives protecting the community.

Tonya and I stopped by your grave site and said a prayer for law enforcement officers and their families. We will be thinking of you while riding to Flagstaff this weekend. We miss you brother and all the crazy things you would do.

The Thin Blue Line is who we are. Thank you to all Law Enforcement Officers out there protecting our communities.
We love you and miss you,
