Reflections for Lieutenant Billy Ray Jiles

As we remember all our fallen brothers and sisters around the country on this September 11th, we will also be remembering our brother, Lt. Billy Jiles.
Lt. Jiles will be missed not only on this Sept 11th, but every day. On behalf of myself and the entire Jail Division, I would like to express what Lt. Jiles meant to us.
Anytime there was a problem in the jail that required officer assistance, Lt. Jiles always came to our assistance to help us gain control of the situation. Lt. Jiles really appreciated his career and his fellow officers.
Although Billy is no longer with us here on earth, he will forever live in our hearts and our thoughts. We want to take a minute to thank him for all the times he was there for us not only in the law enforcement area, but as a loyal friend. Anything told to Billy in confidence stayed in confidence.
Thank you Lt. Jiles for being there for us and showing us that all of us need to take the time to help those in need. Thank you for being a mentor both in your law enforcement example and in your Christian life example. You are indeed an inspiration for all of us who wish to make law enforcement our career.
We love and appreciate you.
You'll never be forgotten,
Corporal Kim Daniel
Jack T. Bell Detention Center, Carroll County

I commend the folks down at Carroll County for such an outpouring of love at the services of LT Jiles. The loss has been especially difficult since LT Jiles taught my wife less than two months ago in mandate training and I had the opportunity to work with him in the role playing during vehicle pullovers of that class. His influence will carry on in the lives of his fellow officers. We will meet him again one day.

There's someone missing from the ranks,
"Who can it be?," you ask.
A man with pride and honor
in fulfilling every task.

"He's never late," "Where could he be?"
"He's always here on time."
This man who would not waste one breath
in this battle against crime.

He won't be coming in today.
His work with us is done.
He tucked his children into bed
before he left his home.

I'll tell you where he is, my friend,
I hope I comfort you.
He's in the ranks of Heaven now,
enjoying love so true.

Carl C. Lloyd III

Ms. Holly, I know that you will miss your husband, so will we. Try not to be discouraged when you think of him, keep your head up. Look for the Eastern sky to split, for in that moment, you will see him again, and you will know him as you knew him on this earth. In that great moment, will all of your troubles be forgotten. Your heartache will be gone and you will be in heaven with the one that loves you more than Billy ever could, our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Keep your children in church, and one day, they will come to know Christ, too. Then the whole family can reunite in Beulah Land.

Deputy Carl C Lloyd III
Carroll Co. Sheriff's Dept.

Thank-You for dedication to your family, your community, and to your country. Your duty is not over for you have been chosen as an guardian of our heavens above. Continue on with honor and duty for your legacy will remain in the minds of all of those that you embraced and supported. Your family has now joined an even bigger family of love, support, and the courage to to not let this moment of sadness prevail them into darkness. You will be the topic of your children's stories of heroism, service before self, and excellence in all that you've done. The men and women of the Washinton Air National Guard salute you and your family.

Staff Sergeant Douglas Hermann

Lt. Jiles, you are now a angel in blue. You will be sadly missed. I pray that your family will get through this devastating time and we will meet you in heaven one sweet day. You were a good friend to me and a hero to all. I will cherish the times we talked and worked together. God Bless you and the loved ones you left behind.

Patrolman Kevin Roddy
Bowdon Police Department

I had the good fortune to get to know Lt. Jiles and his wife Holly a few years ago during a very dark time of my life. I was working for Carroll County 911 at the time and the man I was living with died, he was an ex-deputy for Carroll County and Cousin to Holly Jiles. During the time after his death Lt. Jiles would always call me and make sure I was doing alright and his wife Holly was always nice to me as well. I will always be indebted to Lt. Jiles and Holly. I will never forget their kindness to me.

May the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God give the family and the many deputies who have been touched by this loss, the comfort and the courage to keep pressing on. Sometimes words seem empty but may these words give you all the courage to keep fighting the good fight. May the Lord bless the family and friends of Lt. Jiles with the inner strength they need during these very difficult days.

I think it is just about time we take the streets back. Forget the fatasses and Democrats who make the rules for the minorities, let do it from now on, one by one, for my man Giles.

Another link in the chain is gone. Once again, the "line" has been broken in our area. It has grown thin in the past few years and it's so sad to know that others will follow. But for you, Rest in peace brother... You are in a better place and with very good company. Everytime our paths crossed you were always very positive and willing to help. Thank you "Lt". We will all miss you. May GOD bless your family... We will keep them in our prayers.

My condolences go to the family and friends and anyone who knew Lieutenant Billy Jiles. My heart is always saddened when another law enforcement officer looses his life or gets injured while trying to serve and protect the people within his jurisdiction. I can only hope that it helped his family just a little to know that he was doing what he loved to do up until his final moments.......

Lt.
I don't know where to start. You are gonna be missed and you will NEVER be forgotten and neither will Holly and the kids. It is gonna be hard coming in day after day without you but I know you are in a better place and I WILL see you again. You may not physically be here with us from this time foward but a day will not pass that you want be with us in heart. I sit here and think about all the things you taught me in mandate school just a couple of months ago and I will never forget them. I remember my first traffic stop, just a week ago today and you calling soon as it was over just to see how it went. You were not only a co-worker Lt. but you were a friend. I think back to the fundraiser for the Lanning Family at the golf course two weeks ago at all the fun we all had and I will never forget your words "It is amazing at the family we all have at the Sheriff's Office and how we all pull together when times get tough." You know you are exactly right and Holly and the kids are gonna always remain a part of this family. Donnie and I love yall and I promise you Holly will be taken care of by all of us.
R.I.P and God Bless You!

God Bless you Holly, Haleigh and Matthew.
We Love You!

Carroll County Sheriff's Office
