To Officer Wilson's friends, family, and fellow officers, I hope you can find a way to ease your pain and suffering you will endure throughout this tragic time.

Ofc. Wilson, you have paid the ultimate price. You will forever be a hero in our eyes for that. I pray that you shall know everlasting peace. Your battle is won here, rest now, my sister. You are truly one the 5% and you will be a constant reminder to me of what a hero really is. Watch over those of us still here and we will be with you someday. God Bless your family and keep them safe.

Sgt. Al Whitney

My heart goes out to Jessica and her family. God Bless each and every one of you. To her co-workers, this is a time to pull together and console each other. My heart goes out to you. Stay strong....

Police Officer
PCMH Police Dept, Greenville, NC

I have never felt this much pain in my entire life.
On 07/28/02 my world was turned upside down. The community of Hazel Park lost the best Officer that has stept foot into that city, and I lost the best friend that a person could ever have. I think about the events that happened on that tragic day and I know that Jessica did everything right. She was a good friend a good Police Officer and a good sister. She will never be forgotten, and she will be with me and every other Officer that goes out there to keep their community safe.

Jessica I Love You, and I Miss You.

Thank God for people like Jessica who have the courage to perform such a job. She will NEVER be forgotten as long as there are men and women who have to put on a gun to go to work. I pray that the family can one day live in peace knowing that she is a true hero and made a difference in peoples lives everyday.

Thank you Jessica for making the ultimate sacrifice for me and many others that you do not even know.

"Final Inspection"

The policeman stood and faced his God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining.
Just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My church have you been true?"

The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry badges
can't always be a saint.

I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.

But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep....
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.

If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't.....I'll understand.

There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.

"Step forward now, policeman,
You've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell."

Rest in Peace.
A Brother in Blue

Jessica saved the life of other police officers responding to her call for back-up. She will never be forgotten especially by her classmates of Ferris State University Criminal Justice Class of 2000.

As my phone rang off the hook on Sunday July, 28 2002, I never expected to hear the tragic news about a former classmate and friend. As we gathered at the hospital, we began to realise what a HERO, Jessica was. She saved the lives of the other Hazel Park Police Officers responding to her request for backup.

Jessica was a friend and classmate at Ferris State University. We all heard stories about what could happen in the line of duty, but I never expected this to happen to a member of the Class of 2000.

Rob and Matt, I'm sorry. Were all here for you.

The Thin Blue Line

"There are those who've gone before us, that we long to see again. Fathers, Mothers, loved ones, and some we just called friend.

They chose to make a difference, to walk the thin blue line, they took a call to duty, but they just ran out of time.

Their battles lasted but a moment, but they were warriors just the same, and for those of us they fought for, their death was not in vain.

I chose to take the gauntlet, to walk the thin blue line, and for those of you who are strong enough, please join us anytime.

For the line it is not easy, it's not safe for body or soul, it will change forever who you are, if you're lucky you'll grow old.

And when our time has run out, and we're facing our own end, we will walk a beat in heaven, with our loved ones and our friends."
Joseph Ferrera

I never got to meet you Jessica, but your actions in the last few minutes of THIS life kept ALL your sisters and brothers in blue as well as the people you protect...safe from a violent man. I thank you for that.

God bless you and ALL the people who are lucky enough to know you and love you.

I know we will walk a beat together when my time comes.
