Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Corporal David Eugene King

I see that not many of the guys have been able to stop in and leave a reflection yet. Time will not heal our hearts enough to accept the fact that you are not with us anymore. David you were a good friend and a great guy. I think of you on a daily basis and pray that your family is doing well.

It's kind of strange because I never knew you, yet I feel like I did. When I worked for Liberty County you were always there watching over us in dispatch, quite literally since there was a framed photo of you always present. I was lucky enough to get to sit in on some conversations remembering you. You are truly missed.

Corporal, your good work will not be forgotten and everyone will always honor your friendship. Liberty County and the world lost a really good man.

David King.....I watched you grow into a really fine officer. We shared many good times at the "shooting matches", even though it really wounded your ego when I outshot you!!! It didnt take long for you to win your rightfull place back from me!!! I was really proud to see you get into law enforcement, it really did seem like a natural for you. I miss you but I know that you are safe now.... you can take off that vest now.

As we sit here {Kenny & Becke}
Kenny reflects on the last time he saw you. Driving off in his patrol car,as we were leaving for vacation. Little did he know what would happen three days later. Wishing he could visit with you one more time, to tell you how much you meant to him and depended on you always having his back. They were patrol partners for five years. You can never be replaced. Your memory is with us always.

Keith misses you every day. When something funny happens, when he's got a lot on his mind, when something really good or really bad happens, you are always the first person he wishes he could tell. You brought he some of the most wonderful memories and best times of his life. To him, you were truly a brother. I pray that you watch over him as well as all the Men and Women who wear the badge. I wish you could be here to enjoy the every day little things with us. Please watch over Keith and keep him safe for me, and know that you are so missed by a lot of people down here.

At the beginning of every shift I supervise, myself and the other officers on shift dedicate the day to the memory of a fallen officer. Tonight, June 4, 2003 we dedicated the shift to the memory of Cpl. King who died on this date one year ago.

When one law enforcement officer falls, we all stumble for a while, but we will carry on.

Cpl. King's sacrifice will never be forgotten.

Sgt. Paul Bissonnette

Rest in Peace, you will not be forgotten. My prayers for your family, friends and co-workers. May God bless and comfort them each and every day.

David, your family should be proud. I know I am. You have set the example for law enforcement officers. It will be tough shoes to fill.

I felt your presence at the services, especially at the Church. David, I know you are our guardian angel now, please keep us safe. Your number has been retired, but not forgotten. I miss you, I will always remember you, and I love you my friend.

I wish the family of Corporal David King God's peace and goodness. I had the pleasure to work with David for six of his seven years of service. David and I worked many shifts together. He could always be counted on every situation and cared about the community. David will be missed by myself and many others. I know he now patrols a more peaceful and greater community.

Congulations, 7 years on the job, is long enough, atleast its longer than some other people in this world. When an officer in Blue, goes down we all go down. I am sure David King, went to work everyday to do his best. That is all that many people can ask for. When you are at work you could be at many different calls, a shooting call, robbery, house fires, kidnappings, you have to go out there and work for the state/city every day!! You did the best that anybody could ask for. When you go to line up in heaven remember you deserive a Medal of Honor, for having to deal with what you did. You will stay in my prayers, as well as your family. I lost many officers of mine on 9/11 and we got such a great response from many of you, so you get a major response from my Agency. Congulations, RIP!! You did the best you possibly could, you took people to jail when they did something wrong, and you made that place a better place to live!!!

New York City Police Department
