Reflections for Police Officer Julie Rochelle Jacks

On the 8th anniversary of Officer Jacks' death, we honored her service in our patrol briefing by reading her entry from ODMP. Each day, we honor one fallen officer on the anniversary of their death so as to keep them in our thoughts, and also to remind us of the dangers inherent in our job. Officer Jacks is not forgotten.

It is hard to believe it has been eight years since you left us. You are deeply missed by your family, friends and co-workers.

Another year has passed...it's hard to believe it has been 8 years since that horrible day. I still think of you all the time, you will never be forgotten...there are many that will always remember the sacrifice that you made. Thank you for being willing to give your life for others! I still pray for your family...time may make things easier, but I know it will never take away the pain.

Dear Jules~
This time of year is so tough...it never seems to get any easier. It's not just this time of year, though, it is always. I think of you so much-that beautiful smile, infectious laugh, and happy eyes. Oh, how I miss you.
Until we meet again...
I love you.

My Dear Jules,

Christmas is here again and with it comes a feeling of something missing. That something is YOU.

Last night your sisters came over and we pulled out the picture albums. There were so many laughs and wonderful memories. You were their leader. They always looked up to you for guidance and support.

Ethan enjoyed the pictures of you wrestling with him…of course he always won. He’s taller than I am now. You would have to look up to him. I wish you were here for both he & Allie. We miss you so much.

Your memory and love will forever remain strong in our hearts.

Until we are together again… All my love

I was recently in Chattanooga for my Grandfather's funeral and one of the family friends knowing that I was a police officer commented I looked a lot like an officer they had lost to a senseless act in the line of duty. You may be gone but you still live in the hearts and have not been forgotten by the community you swore to protect. Thank you for your service.

Julie, remembering you today on your anniversary. There are no words to express how I feel. I know that you are missed terribly by your family, friends and co-workers. It seems like just yesterday this happened.
Becky, Frank and family you are in my thoughts today.

Julie worked with our Vice Unit on several occasions and that is how I began my friendship with her. She was an outstanding officer and a wonderful person. Her and Lee Wolff would give each a hard time and it was so funny hearing the two of them talk, they were like brother and sister. Everyone respected Julie and thought the world of her. Chattanooga Police Department was lucky to have had Julie as part of their family.

ON THIS DATE, IT IS MY HONOR TO PAY TRIBUTE TO THIS BRAVE YOUNG WOMAN. I HOPE THE PAIN OF THIS LOSS HAS EASED FOR HER FAMILY AND FRIENDS. I KNOW YOU ARE ALL PROUD OF HER AND WILL NEVER STOP MISSING HER. PLEASE TAKE COMFORT IN KNOWING THAT THE WAY SHE LIVED AND HOW SHE DIED WILL LIVE ON IN THE HEARTS OF ALL WHO KNEW HER.

My dear Jules,

Another birthday. I miss you so much. The hurt… I am learning to deal with.

We were watching a movie the other night and there was a quote that sums it up; "Death leaves a heartache no one can heal. Love leaves a memory no one can steal."

Your memory and love will forever remain strong in my heart.

Until we are together again, All my love

Julie's Mom,

Be strong and of good courage. Hope in the Lord. Without Him, it is impossible but with God, all things are possible. Here's wishing you a Happy New Year and please know you have others praying for you. You are not alone.
