Reflections for Police Officer Kristin Marie Pataki

To the family, friends and co-workers of Kristin I want to offer my condolences for your loss. The reason for this note is to inform you all that this year I will be riding in the 2011 Police Unity Tour in honor of Kristin. I chose to ride in memory of Kristin this year because I also knew her as a friend and was deeply sadden by her loss. Each year when I arrive at the law enforcement memorial, one of the first places that I visit is her spot on the wall. I hope that this message gets out to all who knew Kristin so that they know that she will never be forgotten by the law enforcement community or by anyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Our loved ones leave behind spaces in the world that can never be filled. But they also leave behind love and light in each of us, sparks of joy and hope that live in our hearts and give strength to our souls.

Merry Christman Kristin

I drive by the memorial sign on Clarksburg Road every day on the way to work. Each day I pray for the family of Officer Pataki. I am married to a MCPD police officer; you have suffered the tragedy that is every LEO family's nightmare.

Know that the law enforcement community has not forgotten Kristin's sacrifice and has not forgotten you, her family and colleagues.

May she forever RIP.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the eighth anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. I pray for solace for your family members as I know both the pain and pride are forever. Like your Mom, I understand the anquish of losing a beloved child which surely has to be life's greatest sorrow.

Rest In Peace.

7 years now and I can remember it like it was yesterday. It was the worst day of my life, a parents nighmare come true. But I can also remember your smile, your love of life and all gods creatures big and small. You were so proud to be a Police Officer. I know you are patrolling the heavens with your fellow heros. We miss you

Kristin,

I can't believe it's going on 7 years that you've been gone. I think something cracked in me when I heard that call go out. Before then, I hadn't cried since I was a small child. Now I find myself crying every time I read this page, every time I hear a news story about a cop losing their life, every time I hear Amazing Grace played on the bag pipes, and every time I hear the national anthem.
Since you've been gone I've made it my goal to live my life like you did. To never complain or say anything bad about anyone, and to live life to its fullest. You always brightened everyone's day with your contagious smile. I hope that I can learn to do the same.
Even though you were only with us for a few months, I think that everyone on shift 5, as well as the rest of the department would agree that you were an inspiration to all of us. Your positive attitude and enthusiasm was contagious, and we all benefited from it.
When I think of you, I feel like I lost my little sister. Rest easy, and I'll see you again some day.

Tomorrow is your anniversary, 6 yrs now, but it seems like yesterday. We love you and miss you. One thing that has stayed with me is that the greatest honor you can give some one is to take what you most admire about that person and to try do the same with your life. You were an Angel in life, your work with the handicapped kids, every day in every way you touched some one.
If I can be half the person you were, I will be blessed.
As you know Fedex has sponsored the Unity Tour, but this year I will be there to send off the riders on May 9th. I hope in some way this helps to give back to those in Blue that dedicate their lives for the rest of us. Please watch over them.. Brooklyn and I love you.
