D/S March, Sir Thank You for your service. You were a credit to your family and your department. Looking at your picture I see someone who loved life and loved his job. Those who put the uniform on every day/night and hit the streets are our TRUE HERO's! The monster that took your life will pay, in Hell! Every LEO who has lost their life or been crippled by these senseless acts will never be forgotten! GOD BLESS your FAMILY and Rest In Peace!

Deputy March:

I watched a replay of The Academy last night and once again watched your memorial service after the colors run. Hearing the pipes play Amazing Grace always brings a chill to my body and tears to my eyes. I write to you today, to let you know that you will always be remembered as a Hero to many, especially to new recruits and rookies like myself. Observing the dedication so many people have for fallen officers, and the brotherhood that we share as a family (even if it is across the country), makes me feel proud to wear the badge.

Thank You Sir for your service and dedication to your community and country. Rest In Piece. We'll take it from here!

Like another Reflection here, I saw the episode of The Academy (a replay) that featured their tribute to your sacrifice. When the Class was at the location of where you were shot, their emotions were so evident on their faces. Your loss made everything real to them. This isn't an ordinary job. When we go to work every day, we may not come back to the ones we love. They will remember that and it will make them better officers because of it.
Their solemn respect for you, someone they never knew proves once again that we NEVER forget our fallen brothers and sisters. Rest in peace Deputy, and watch over the rest of us.

Deputy March and family,

Tonight I wacthed the show The Academy where Class #355 did the colors run. As I sat here and watched it I had tears running down my face. Seeing your father and wife talk to the class had to be hard. They were very strong and proud of the class for what they did. It reminds me of the day we lost an officer to a traffic stop here. You and your family will always be in my heart. Rest in peace Deputy March. Thank you for your service.

I can't believe another year gone by. That day is crystal clear in my mind. I remember I was on my home. Only to drive upon such a devastating event. My husband wears the same uniform. That day has forever changed me. It breaks my heart every time I drive by your memorial. Too many good men lost. Another hero gone.

Another sad anniversary is about to arrive. Can't help but think about that day. If only it could have been someone else you pulled over. I will never forget you and your kindness.

I also saw "The Academy." I did alright until the pipes started playing "Amazing Grace." I've been to way too many funerals for Officers, and I had to walk out of the room. My wife was curious why a song affected me, so we came on this site, and after I showed her the people that I knew, I wanted to learn more about Dep. March. Godspeed, sir, we have the watch from here.

"The Badge"
He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.
He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.
Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.
He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.
His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.
He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.
And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.
But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.
Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.
Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.
So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.
In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.
Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.
