Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Donald Lee Schavolt

Rest in peace.

Inv. Michael Walker
Tallahassee Police Department

At the beginning of every shift I supervise, myself and the other officers on shift dedicate the day to the memory of a fallen officer. Tonight, March 31, 2003 we dedicated the shift to the memory of Deputy Sherrif Donald Schavolt who died on this date last year.

When one law enforcement officer falls, we all stumble for a while, but we will carry on.

Deputy Schavolt's sacrifice will never be forgotten.

Sgt. Paul Bissonnette

I lost my cousin and academy mate in June of 1995. He too suffered a heart attack while attempting to arrest an offender. We all feel the loss, but to you, the family of Deputy Schavolt, know that his death makes us all stronger. We in the police service salute you, and wish you well. He is at peace, and watching over all who still wear the badge.

Officer Edward F. Beck

Rest in peace, Officer Schavolt, your watch is over now. May God bless your family and friends.

Deputy Shavolt will be missed as a brother officer who loved his job with all his heart. The thing I remember the most is the love he and his family shared. He was a competitor and enjoyed the law enforcement football league and was a teamplayer on the Palm Beach Bandits. I still see him in football gear holding his children enjoying the their love and they his. Thank you. Your Team

Sir,

You are gone but will NEVER be Forgotten !!

God Bless America !!!

Sgt Matt Mumford
Maryland State Police

Don't grieve for me, for now I am free,
I am following the path GOD laid for me.
I took his hand when I heard him call,
I turned my back and left it all.

I could not stay another day,
To laugh…to love…to work…to play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way,
For I found peace at the close of the day.

If my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss,
These things I too will miss.

Be not burdened with time of sorrow,
For I wish for you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life’s been full, I savored much,
Good friends, good times, a loved ones touch.

Perhaps my time seemed all to brief,
Don't lengthen it now with undo grief.
So lift up your heart and share with me,
GOD wanted me now...He has set me free.

Remember...to live in the hearts we leave behind is not to die
