Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Adam V. Streicher

Adam,
I remember the night you were killed and the frantic radio traffic as we tried to piece together what had happened only to find out the truth was worse than we ever thought possible. Its hard to believe that someone I went to BHC with has already fallen. No one who knew you will ever forget the kind of man you were. God bless you and your family.

Police Officer Ben Sleaford
Geneseo Police Dept.

My husband and I knew Adam while my husband perfomed his internship in Annawan, IL in the summer of 2001. We were shocked and saddened to hear of Adam's murder the morning after it occurred. My husband is a police officer in Grayslake, IL and has been for over 3 years now. We have lost too many friends but we are thankful to have known them. They watch over us all. To all the officers out there, be safe. God Bless, Adam. Sleep well...we think of you often.

I was saddened to know that we lost another Brother in Blue. May your soul rest in peace and may God comfort your family.

You have not been forgotten Adam. I was at a Chicago Gold Star function last week and your name came up during a conversation at our table. You are a true American Hero. My son Michael is now with you as he also paid the ultimate price by giving his life in the line of duty on 8/8/04. When you run into him, please tell him that I love him and miss him just as your family loves and misses you. God keep you close to him.

Deputy Streicher,
I never knew you, I never even lived in the same state as you. I only just learned of your horrible death on a show called American Justice on A&E. I was fixated on the program and kept thinking about how senseless it is. I am brought to this site everyday to keep an eye on my friend Jason Pratt. He is my hero and he is one of the reasons that I am pursuing a career in law enforcement. He was killed in the line of duty here in Omaha, NE a little over a year ago. Again - a senseless, heartbreaking murder. You died fighting a good fight and you will always be remembered. May you rest in peace, I am so sorry you weren't able to do the job you loved for longer.

Rest in peace "StrikeForce"..... I miss ya brother...... We'll take care of things down here, you get things ready for us up there.....

Deputy Glenn Hampton
Henry County Sheriff's Office (IL)

May God be with Adams family through the difficult times they are facing, and will face in the future (court). I have been there, it's not easy! But my husbands murderer did receive the DEATH penalty and is now on Death Row, going through all the motions of appeals and such, but I am certain Justice will be served!
Always remember, the world may have lost another "good guy", but Heaven has gained another "good guy", and he is in a much happier place than we are.

I did not know Adam. My father is a police officer in Yeadon,PA. From time to time I check the ODMP to make sure that he or I have not lost anyone. I noticed that Adam passed on March 22nd which just happens to be my 21st birthday. It saddens me to see that he was only 23, the same age as my fiance'. I wanted to pay my respects, not because he passed on my birthday but because he did so protecting his community and that deserves the greatest respect. May he rest in peace.

I never knew this web site was avaliable until we lost one of our own recently. We chose this job for many different reasons. But I think the most important, even if we don't admit it, is to help people. It is the very people we try to help that sometimes take our lives. I hope people who visit this web site, who are not in law enforcement, could realize our sacrifices. The bad will never go away. I hope that all will remember and pray for those that keep fighting the bad everyday. To all the memorials on this web site, GOD BLESS. You tried to fight the fight. To those still fighting the fight, please, please, please, stay safe. Remember that no call is routine.

God Bless

After Cain had slain Able, the Holy Father asked Cain where his brother was. Cain answered the question with another question. "Am I my brother's keeper?" God is prominent in his silence,
but all throughout the bible old and new testaments the answer to Cain's question is a resounding YES!
A Police Officer is a very special person. A Police Officer Steps forward off the line and lets the world know that yes, I am my brothers keeper. In times of need, in times of danger, and in times of dread the police are there to serve and protect. They do the work most people would be terrified to do. Not that police do not know fear, they have the unique ability to control and function in times of stress.
To all fallen officers and their family's:
Thank you so very much for your sacrifice.
Thank you for being my keeper.

I also was in Adams P.T.I. class in Champaign earlier this year, and was sadden to hear the news come across the radio that night, while I was also on patrol, knowing a I attended class with a Deputy in Stark County. I only knew Adam 2 weeks, but in them 2 week our class grew together as a family, and then there was Adam, always with the Big Smile and them Rosie Checks. My heart goes out to the Family, Friends,Police Officers, Firemen, that all worked with Adam, he will truely be missed by all.

Ofc Greg Heiken

I TOO ONLY HAD THE HONOR OF KNOWING ADAM AT PTI. BUT THOSE 2 WEEKS WERE ENOUGH TO KNOW SOMEBODY WHO HAD A HEART BIGGER THAN MOST AND ADAM WAS. IN JUST 2 SHORT WEEKS HE TOUCHED THE LIVES OF 41 PEOPLE IN HIS CLASS. THOUGH SOME MIGHT NOT HAVE KNOWN HIS NAME, ALL KNEW HIS SMILE AND SENSE OF HUMOR.
TO THE FAMILY OF ADAM: HE WAS A GREAT MAN, OFFICER, PERSON. GOD BLESS. YOU WILL NOT BE FORGOTEN OUR BROTHER.
