Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Adam V. Streicher

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and fellow brothers in blue. Such a senseless act as this is a tragic reminder of how twisted this world can be. Deputy Streicher took on a task that most could not. For that he will always be remembered. Be with us brother, as we continue our tours of duty.

Marseilles Police Dept.

On behalf of myself, my family, my co-workers with the Lisle Police Department, and many, many others, I would like to offer my condolences to the Stark County Sheriff's Department, Deputy Streicher's family & friends, and all other Officers that have been affected by tragedy such as this.

Officer William Wise
Lisle Police Department, IL

A month to the day that we last saw you, you are taken from us. I didn't rememder when I first heard your name, but when I looked at our PTI class photo and saw you next to me. I remembered what you said to me when I asked you to kneel down becuse you made me look small, you said "I am just a big guy" and we chuckled. From what I gathered you were a big hearted, caring person and you will always be rememdered in our prayers.

I am, as Deputy Streicher was, a new officer. I have been on the road now for just three months. I read the ODMP page at least 4 times per week, if not everyday. I read it to keep me on my toes. I know that a similar situation could happen to me at any time. Any of us could be placed in a deadly force confrontation at any time. It is just hard to believe that such a call would go bad...over something as minor as a traffic warrant. It is simply appauling.
I would just like the family of Dep. Streicher to know that his death along with all other officers memorialized on this website, has served to make me a more vigilant and cautious officer. It is obviously a tragic loss and my deepest sympathies go out to you.

We will be thinking of you, your department, and your family. God Bless.

May god bless the family, Department and friends.

To the friends and family of Deputy Adam Streicher,

I met Adam in Champaign, Il just a few weeks ago. During that two weeks of training Adam grew in all our hearts. He always had a smile on his face. Adam was a good hearted person and will sadly be missed by all of law enforcement.

May God help you in your time of neeed. Our hearts and prayers are with you all.

This is completely disheartening. Like many, I am both a police officer and a reservist. Being called to active duty, I left my family, friends, and job to fight an all out war on terrorists. When I return home, I here of a simple FTA warrent turned deadly. It's easy to question society and wonder why we do it. We all have our own reasons, but ultimately, I'm sure their the same: to make society safer for all. Deputy Streicher is a hero, not just for how he died, but for how he lived. God bless his family and department!

I knew Adam from part-time PTI in Galesburg where he sat in front of me. He always had a sense of humor. I lost contact with him until the transition to full-time PTI course in Champaign. Adam surprised me by showing up at my door after arriving. I wondered if there would be anyone from my part-time class with me and he was the only one. It was good to see a familiar face. Adam was the roommate of another officer, Mark, from my area. Adam, Mark, my roommate, Renee, and myself stuck together while in Champaign. He was always a gentleman and as stated before always funny. He made me laugh alot. He will be missed greatly. I remember the last thing I said to him before we parted. I gave him a hug and said "I will come and ride with you sometime". I'm sorry to say I will never get that chance. To the family of Adam please accept my prayers and thoughts. He will never be forgotten.
